Not sure if this is the right place to post this ... but I'm going to anyway.
Staying on my current obsession of the IA8 theme I have had thoughts of attempting to throw together a Space Marine list of about 2000 points that all deep strike. Sort of Raven Guard Style.
Maybe even an all Scout list although I'm not sure that would be competitively viable.
Has anyone got any ideas about this? Or even tried it? Really open all comments.
I am drunk again. Just a bit.

Probably best off in the space marine sub-forum. It's possible to do it but not always that successful. I once got absolutely raped by an all scout list so it is a viable option, just go with what you want and try it and modify it till it works.

Actually it's the Allies of the Imperium board.
One idea I used to hear being used a lot.. in 3rd edition I believe, was the 'first and tenth' army, which revolved around terminators in orbit deep striking and minimal scouts with teleport homers on the ground. Or maybe loads of scouts and land speeders. Now that scouts have their own transport speeder they are very manouevrable.

Well I had to put it either on Allies or here. As the subject is the viability of a deep striking list, it's here.
So how would this sound? 3 scout squads in storms. 3 Tac Squads in drop pods with the HQs embedded. A Dreadnought or two also in drop pods. Then some assault squads jumping in here and there.
The questions are ...
Will I have spent too much of my points on Drop Pods? Without any heavy support would it survive? Is there any key element that has not been filled the absence of which would produce an unviable allcomers list?
I mean fluff is great but there's got to be a bit of cheese hasn't there?

And before anyone suggest it ... no ... I'm not forking out for a Thunderhawk even if GW does bring out a kit. I'd rather proxy and old vacuum cleaner !!!
Hmmmmm ......... ?? ?? ??

Have you thought about using Blood Angels and use a "Space Guppy" it would make it possible to put both a tac squad and a Dreadnaught in the same vehicle.
What ever way you choose to go I would try to include ordinary assault marines, they can drop on their own. No need for an extra vehicle.

I would think long and hard about investing too much in drop pods. People can just reserve everything and ur T1 is just DS pods in to no mans land for them to clean up when they do arrive....... the aren't cheap to buy and take a lot of painting, so I'd seriously think about that before investing.
Scout armies rock!!!!!!! You should deffo give that a go. There are excellent tacticas online, have a google. A guy called Crusader88 is an expert on scout lists, so have a search and read up his tacticas..... deffo worth it.
If you really want DS list, BA jump troops are poss your best bet.
