Adding depth to camo

[The Guardsmen]

I'm trying to give my guardsmen a digital camouflage look but there's one problem when the uniform is done the camo looks great but the color is flat and lacks life...

I tried going over the fatigues with a wash afterward but unfortunately It blends all the colors together and makes the camo look like crap
The base color is a 3:1 Codex Grey Catachan green
The light shade is the previous color on with added bleached bone While the darker shade has added chaos black (I based it off the Army Combat Uniform)

Any Ideas....

There's no nice way of saying this....

Hightlights.

Add a bit of white/kommando khaki to the colour you painted and add a bit of a highlight
