So, I decided that if I ever get around to colecting fantasy then I would love to have some dragons. However, I don't really want to play elves. Is their any hope for my plan?
From what I have seen, my only choices are chaos, vampires or empire with Karl Franz. I'm not really a fan of these. Methinks my quest is doomed until some more army books are out. Maybe I could make some of the lesser creatures (eagles/griffons etc) into dragons?

Maybe do an alternate human army, like Araby, Kislev, Border Prince mercenaries or Cathay, but use Empire rules and 'counts as'.

Don't know what to say man. You may just have to play a storm of chaos battle or wait till an army gets re-released and pray it's both one you like and has dragons in it. Other than that just focus on building the type of army cheminhaler just mentioned.

Dragon models are huge these days? £70! Think of the battleforce and extra command squad box you could buy instead? *Ahem!* What happened to painting the Tvashtan guard?

Erm, it is very slowly progressing. I suppose I shouldn't think about what I'm going to do afterwards until I get near the end.

Well I won't prevent anyone from having a 2nd army on the go; I'm planning to paint two IG armies at once.... (but at least I gave up on the pre-Heresy Word Bearers for now.)
Instead of having a Dragon for gaming you could always make a display model or diorama. At least it'll get looked at on the mantlepiece, but if it's plastic don't put it too close to the fire or radiator.
