Hello,
I don't have any experience painting (though I am generally an artistic/creative person, which is what draws me to 40K) and the most intimidating part of working on such a small scale is painting the eyes of all my future guardsmen. I was thinking about using green stuff to mold in visors for them instead. Has anyone done something like this? Have any photos or tutorials? Is green stuff easy enough to work with so that this could be done quickly and easily?
Thanks in advance, Tobacco

so I'd never even thought about trying this before i saw this post, however after you brought it up i had to try it. So i ended up trying it really quick, and i really like what it came out looking as. That said do you want a full face visor or just over the eyes? Cause what i did was a full face and it took pretty much no time to do with green stuff. Also i dont think it would be difficult to make a visor that just covers the eyes. Quick Picture of the head with the full face visor that was done extremely quick could be better. Final note i find green stuff pretty easy to work with the only issue i really have is keeping finger prints off. However that is easy to fix if you keep your fingers wet. Its like work with clay for the most part.

If you could be bothered making a little glasses-shaped stamp and cutting them out biscuit-style then it could be quite easy. I'd do what Cosmic suggested though, as I'm lazy and my greenstuff skills are non-existant

I guess I will just learn to paint eyes. Have to learn it sooner or later...
I would have liked to order the head bitz, but in addition to being out of stock, I would rather have my guardsmen have shoddy eyes than all having the exact same facial expression.

I've been modeling a few gasmasks and stuff on my guardsmen, what I do about the eye issue is simply avoid it altogether. I just leave the area around them black/dark as if the helmet brim is overshadowing them. Some dark brown to ever so slightly bring out facial features, then i paint the rest of the face normally.

Painting eyes isnt really that hard. By the time youve done a few squads itll be easy. Much easier than making green stuff ray-bans for them all anyway
