I've always been a fan of the darker grey space pups, not the baby blue that games workshop seem to do nowadays.
I really like the gritty dirty feel on the models. That being said I would definately try to clean up the reds and yellows on the shoulders a bit. And maybe paint the skulls on the backpacks? And bases, bases, bases!!
But I wouldn't change a thing about the grey armour. How did you paint it?
Some nice stuff there!

The bases are waiting. My friend is going to order some custom bases for them. They should look good once they're done.
Armor: Codex then drybrushed layers of the following: Fortress, Deneb, Skull. Then a wash of badab and then devlan around the feet.

And you're right, the skulls would be a good touch.

Awesome! I'll look forward to seeing them on their bases. It will definately be the icing on the cake!

the backpacks look a little too metalic compared the the power armour, was it done in a different way/colour? other than that and whats already been mentioned they look very gritty and combat weary it's given me inspiration to do some gritty looking Ultra marines

That and a few highlights. I think the skin in particular seems a bit too dark for dudes that are from a very harsh planet. Unless its been the 'uber summer' they get.... They're better than most Space Wolves armies I've seen though

Yup, and I was going for an "old fluff" style space wolves army.

Some of the first shoulder pads I did look pretty bad. I have figured out a different way of doing them though on the later models that looks better.

I never new that, and stand corrected (as long as your painting your recruits lighter )
