I am looking at doing some highland guard style guardsmen with kilts (yes i will be using the very cool Victorialamb Conversion kits) and i was wanting todo guardsmen with claymores (the sword not the anti personel explosive) and was raking my head what squad i could use them as. as there are very few combat units in the guard codex i was considering making my own but then inspiration hit me, what about 3 of them with claymores and heavy shotguns to a 40mm base and use them as ogryns, 3 models to be the 3 wounds and 3 heavy shotguns to represent the 3 shots the ripper gun gets. thoughts and feelings? im gonna mock one up so will post pictures when i have  |

why thank you sir just need to come up with a way todo "heavy" shotguns, i could do masive revolvers aswell i supose or somehing equaly St5

Hmmmm, maybe using a Grenade launcher mag with some thing pipeing? but then again, i'm not the best converter about  but i'll take a zip around and see what i can find, any friend of Lupus' is a friend of mine  |

have you tried firestar toys... they have squillions of guns... do these scots men have similar height to ogryns?.. its the only aspect which might be different in my mind, the concept is great though!

no unfortunetly the scotsmen are only the same size as normal guards men hence the putting 3 on a base to represent the wonds and such like, potentialy putting a flag on the lead base to give the same hight as an ogryn so if you can see the flag you can shoot them kinda thing, then again with the claymores they may be tall abnough will have to check then i mock it up later. can any one tell me the hight of an ogryn please (as in the model not the fluff lol) |

They're only a little higher than a normal figure, so a bearskin headress (like the vostroyans or the london 'queens guard' wear) might do... they might not even be that tall.. hmmm let me go look...
.... the difference is about the same as another human head on top of a normal human figure (or as normal as a GW human gets).
Maybe do one of them stood on a rock or similar terrain piece?

I do like firestar toys but not many results for shotguns. www.firestartoys.com/?Query=shotgun&x=0&y=0Maybe splie an autocannon and Gl on to a lasgun? like sniper the lasgun down to the hand, attach the GL amo drum and then add a pit of the barrle from the auto or las cannon? I do like the sounds of them but not sure, will wait to see the end effect before I pass judgement |

wanting to use goliath shotguns for my normal veteran shotgun, think i have a rough idea of what im doing though. did a mock up last night and if i take line of sight to there swords then they are slightly taller than ogryns (well ogres anyway as i dont have an ogryn but i do have some warhammer ogres lol) so i think it may well work.

I think it is a very innovative idea Angelus. Try to get hold of some WH Empire milita 2H swords and the plastic frame with bearpelts and other northern stuff. It was released as a addon army to Mordheim. But it seems to be out of production.

great minds think alike Mr Kelly the mock up i did (and the plan for the final models) is with the 2h Swords from the empire militia........though i need to source many many more of them if i wanna make any decent number of them (dose quick math, 3 to a base, 10 bases to a unit thats 30 per unit) Oh dear what have i got myself into |

Unfortunatly I used up most of mine when building my Border princes mercenary 2h swordsmen a long time ago. Otherwise I could have donated some. But I´ll see if I can dig up at least one.
