painting my catachans, progress is slow but thats cos of life...
have got all the main foundation colours done, skin, combats, vests, gunmetal instructions now say to wash it all over.
do i use a bit, a lot or a deluge?
hints and tips welcome...

Definitely not a lot.
Use a different colour wash for the varying sections and don't let it pool too much, keep it moving until it's settled nicely in the recesses.

I add water to mine, as you can always add more if there isnt enough. If you put too much on, however, you'll have to repaint THE WHOLE MODEL!!!!!

TBH it depends on what you want, and how much post wash work you want to do......
when I started I heavily washed everything, and had to rehighlight again extensively.
now, I use a little less wash, and for table top quality (tbh better than just table top, but not golden daemon or anything) and the wash pretty much finishes the models.
Rule of thumb. You can always add another layer of wash, it just takes time, but once it is on, you can't remove it, only paint over.

well i ended up doing a fairly heavy wash and it looks good the only thing that will need highlighting are the vests, so thats next and then some detail work and my first 20 models will be done!!!
