Forgworld Cadians - questions + advice please

Howdy there fellow grunts ;D I'm not sure where to put this so feel free to move it if so inclined Mr Mod.

I'm a long time lurker, be gentle haha. I want to add some bits to may new Cadian army and checked out Forgeworld - I dont know what kits to buy

The Hostile environment pack looks kool it has the same heads as the respirators pack, does anyone know how much stuff do you get in the respirators pack??


With the Cadian veterans do you recieve anything extra? Like plasma pistols?

I feel slightly dissapointed looking at the pictures of this kit as the Elysian veterans have more bad ass looking shotguns and demo charges and a meltagun for the same price. (considering you still have to buy some cadian models seperately)

Also do the special weapons with backpacks come with the extra three men in the photos?? If so they are cheaper than the special weapons from the GW website

My army is mainly a couple of squads of normal guardsmen with commissars, 2 valks with veterans with meltas,demo, flamers, 1-2 veteran squad with plasmas, stormtroopers, sentinels and Ogryns

...so I want my best troops too look unique - without tanks my army lacks the wow factor I feel want to feel when I look at it!

A bit of a rant I know but I'm fairly new to all this. Has anyone used any of the Cadian upgrade packs and what is your impressions? Should I just buy a bunch of Cadian command units from GW??

and as a follow on as i have been considering either the cadians or the elysians for my veteran squads, why do they sell them in combinations that don't make complete squads

5 elysians, 4 with shotguns (1 has demo charge) and 1 melta gun...

so i buy 2 squads and have an extra demo i don't need and am short 1 melta for an ideal squad....

Now about those things..

Cadian veteran pack.. Comes with all the stuff you see.. 5 guys.. Toe to helmet.. Nothing extra..

Elysians.. Also 5 guys.. Can't mix and match.. Need to buy 2 packs.. I am 99% sure that even if you write them they won't sell them seperately.. Imagne all the extra meltagunners they'd have to cast..

Hostile enviroment packs.. 3 packs w. heads no guns and 3 packs w. heads + guns.. Need a cadian box to complete it.. It is basically the gear for a SWS you get..

Hi Kras, thanks for the welcome!

Not the bringer of bad news, I'm using kilted legs for IG so the face that are mostly part models such as torsos and such is probably no problem.

Wow that forgeworld special weapons are cheaper the GW special weapons plus I wont have to cut and convert metals.

GW metals are £8.70 (76 krone) for a pack of two metal.

FW resins are £12.50 (109 krone) for 3 special weapons (without legs but i'm using different legs anyway) plus the bodies for 3 troopers with packs.

It works out with the extra legs at the same price as GW for (imo) better looking and unique models

I think I shall use the Cadian command squad box from GW as a good basic for powerfists and weapon options. I didnt realise how many parts it came with until I watched an unboxing on youtube I thought it was just five guys and I prefered the metal command from a while ago. Wow, GW giving us more than we need! ;D

Well the GW ones in metal are expensive, but you can buy seperate melta/plasmaguns in metal from them, that way is cheaper, but they are space marine guns so might look a bit.. ehm.. Bulky..
