Bases for the Solar Crusade (new pics)

Hi.

So I decided to improve the painting on my guard army and in this process also do something about their current bases but I don't know what. So I ask you guys.

Some pics of more or less finished and touched up guards with the old base-style that may army currently has:

Made som bases and included a Russ in the picture as another referance for how well the bases fit with teh wholse scheme. Quite happy. Thanks 3ff3ct for the inspiration. Anything that needs to be done, what do you think? Or should I go with this?

Great looking Guardsmen they're really interesting!

As for the bases, they need painting. Looking at them it appears it's just regular sands and stone.

Try basecoating them and then drybrushing, then painting the rim. Use some spare bases as a tester first so you can try it out

I usually do..

1) Bestial Brown
2) Drybrush Kommando Khaki
3) Drybrush Bleached Bone

Then you could add some flock or some foliage if you want.

Get some paint on them

They look great, but as already said. The bases need some colour. I'm more into greyish scale colours on bases, but every one got their own style.

Thanks for the compliments. I might open up a thread with pics as I work on the other models.

And 3ff3ct, the urban basing is exactly what I was looking for. I think these models would look great with a bit brighter, greyish bases with an urban theme. I want to make a city-fight-esque army anyway.

I'll see what I can do and come back with an update.

Wow, the new bases did wonders!
Maybe do them slightly lighter, but that is the only thing I could think of.
