My friend and I decided to run a massive 2000 point battle to try out his new codex. I wasn't sure what he was going to throw together, so I kinda made an armour parking lot, with enough mobile fire-power to keep any of his new units tied up. My list was-
-----HQ 1- Yarrick 2- CCS with Master of Ordinance & sniper rifle
-----Elites 1- Guardsman Marbo
-----Troops 1- Platoon -PCS with 2 Meltas & 2 Plasmas -Squad with Grenade launcher & Autocannon -Squad with Grenade launcher & Lascannon 2-Penal Legionaries 3-Penal Legionaries 4-Penal Legionaries 5-Veteran Squad with GSGT Harker & 3 snipers & Heavy Bolter
-----Fast Attack 1 scout Sentinal with Multilaser
-----Heavy Support 1- Basilisk squadron - 3 basilisks
2- Tank Squadron - LRBT with Heavy Bolters and Lascannon - LR exterminator with Heavy Bolters 3-Tank Squadron -Heavy Bolters
-----Transports
I had two Chimeras whic I wasn't going to use to transport troops, I fancied them as light tanks
His list was: -----HQ 1- Overlord with warschythe, Resurrection ob, Phase Shifter --Royal Court -Cryptec- harbinger of Destruction, with solar Pulse -Cryptec- harbinger of transmogrification, harp of dissonance -Necron Lord- warscythe, resurrection orb 2-Necron lord, warscythe and Catacomb Command Barge --Royal Court -Cryptec- harbinger of Destruction, with Solar pulse
-----Elites 5 LychGuard- Hyperphase swords, Dispersion Shields
-----Troops 1- 9 Warriors with Ghost Ark 2- 9 Warriors 3- 5 Immortals- Tesla Carbines
-----Fast Attack 1- 10 Canoptic Scarabs 2- 6 Canoptic Wraiths with whip coils
-----Heavy Support 1- 3 Canoptic Spiders 2- Doomsday Ark

This is my first battle report, and I didn't take detailed notes, so If i don't mention anything, just assume it missed or didn't cause any kills
we set up the table in an urban environment with a foot high landing platform in the centre which could look out over everything.
Deployment for me went with my Basilisks hidden behind a building on the right, with my tanks flanking the centre platform. My CCS went on the left with a penal squad that rolled as gunslingers to guard them. My veteran squad with harker infiltrated onto the column, whicj we agreed was a 3 plus cover save (giving them a pretty awesome 2+ save!!!) My platoon went in the open ground on the right, guarding the basilisks and getting ready to move into a building The other two penal squads rolled as gunslingers and psychopaths on the right to counter his wraiths and act as meat shields The mobile firepower of the sentinel and chimeras went in the middle, with one chimera on the right, and the others on the right Finally, Yarrick was in cover behind the column, waiting for his royal courts to make their move.
I can't remember his deployment, but his warriors were on my left, his HQ was in the middle, with Lychguard and immortals, and his heavy support and fast attack was on my right

I won the initiative roll, and on my first turn..... He used Solar Pulse, and absolutely nothing scored a kill.... NOTHING!
In his first turn solar pulse wore off, and he got to shoot. he moved his barge and wraiths, but was out of range for assault so he stayed in cover. His doomsday ark was actually blocked behind some cover, and He couldn't see anything, so he moved it and shot at a tank and didn't score a hit since it was weakened.

My second turn, he used his OTHER solar pulse (so freaking over-powered), however, I did score some hits. -His troops and ghost ark mounted troops were squashed up due to moving through streets so I fired my Basilisks at them, to try and weaken his entire left flank. however, due to the scatter from night fighting they scattered a massive amount... ONTO his command barge, and it got destroyed!!! (but the lord survived) -Marbo arrived and used his Demo Charge on his doomsday ark, but it scattered an inch... and hit his immortals and his ark, It wiped out his immortals and caused a weapon destroyed on the ark (guess which weapon I chose) -My veterans got a solid few hits, 5 heavy bolters and 2 snipers, which caused 2 kills in the Lychguard, other units managed to take down a cryptek and one of his wraiths -(I ignored his scarabs, which would come back to bite me in the arse)
In his turn, the ark used its Gauss arrays, and a cryptek used its eldritch lance but didn't hit Marbo. his warriors shot and knocked out 7 of my legionaries guarding the CCS His wraiths used their new jump jet move to hit my platoon that was in the building, he got TWENTY ATTACKS, and wiped out the PCS and the squad with the Lascannon His scarabs moved up and attacked a chimera, with FORTY ATTACKS and just obliterated it. then he made more scarabs with his spiders... yay!

turn three and he was out of solar pulses, so finally I could shoot
-A LRBT killed his ghost ark plus three of the warriors in the squad - MY vets and the other LRBTs shot at the spiders but didn't cost enough wounds to kill any. -Yarrick moved up and engaged the Lychguard, killed two of them, but was only left with one wound -My pet psychopaths engaged his scarabs and killed about half of them, but died in return (won't be doing that again)
In his turn - Marco was killed by the Doomsday ark, - The three remaining Gunslingers were killed by warriors, - The wraiths killed the Autocannon Squad, - He killed a sentinel with the spiders - And wrecked a Russ with scarabs

Since we had been playing for about 2 hours now, we decided to call it quits, We had equal Killpoints so it ended as a draw.
What do you think, what could I have done better?
How do you counter a solar pulse, or those bloody scarabs?

Sounds like a okay battle..
Now i've only had 6 games against the new necrons, so might not be able to give too much advice but:
Solar Pulse : Search lights.. That is the only way i see around it..
Scarabs.. Multilaser fire (or any other 6+ fire..)
What you could have done better:
Your list is far from good..
Remove Yarrick (Never worth it, you are actually giving your opponent a 180 point headstart here..) and snipers (since they are the worst special weapon in our codex, they in general should only be on ratlings, where you actually get something for your points)
Don't mix special weapons.. And why in the world have you put BS dependend weaponry on a BS3 unit and not on your CCS?
Master of ordnance, also a waste of points..
Chimeras with troops in win tournaments.. Put some troops in them, they have 5 firing points, silly not to use your units to their full capability..
Keep your Lemans cheap, don't buy up on expensive HB sponsons for a LRMBT, give them to the exterminator..
Consider Collossus mortars instead of the Bassy's.. They wreck scarabs 100%.. And all other necron units for that matter..
Autocannons or HBs on your BS3 line squads.. More shots, reserve the Lascannon for CCS or vets..
There you go, alot of stuff to work on.. But remember that no matter how good and functioning a list you have, gaming experience counts for at least 40% of the game, so just keep playing and optimizing your list to your play style, at some point you will have made something that you enjoy playing + it can actually win battles..
Hope it helps..
Kras..

Are you sure that was 2000 points? I didn't figure you could get so many vehicles at that point limit.
