Ok, I know this HAD to have been brought up, I have even seen a few threads but I am not to sure how many people would answer my question on there but anywho! onto the question, I had the crazy idea to make a female medic out of a command squad (as the rest of my guardsmen aren't going to take kindly to being tested on) but before I grab an exacto knife and start sculpting and hacking away at heads and GS and the like I would like a few tips on how to do it possibly, and or on how the best way to do it is. -Commissar General Dr. Phillips.

Just scupt a female head I guess. If you want her to have a helmet, then you can just pretend it's a girl, because it wouldn't look any different.

My problem is always that the 'ladies' people have converted still have big manly hands, and generally look very very wrong proportion wise. I would suggest shaving everything down and get a better shoulders/waist/hips ratio. Unless you're into the hammer-thrower look Good luck dude!

In Soviet Russia.. Green stuff boobs sculpt you..! Converting females from the cadian (and catachan!:S) box is hard, you are better of trying to find some conversion bitz around ze interweb instead..

Alright, next question would be how do I work with GS? do I just take a knife and sculpt or what? and or do I actually take a head and shave it down some or just sculpt a new one from GS?

Due to my past military experience, when you have a gal in BDU/ACU decked out with her pack and assorted accoutrements, you really can't tell it's a woman unless you stare at her rear. Even then, it's not even guaranteed.
Your best bet is to snag a fairly clean looking head from the Dark Eldar/High Elves range that's female, clean it up and plop it on your typical Guards person body, since it's going to be a Field Medic, paint the hands white with bloody smears or something along those lines to make it look like she's wearing gloves.

Ok, even though I was going well with it, I bought the mini's and the shop was out of green stuff -.- so! I managed to carve a bit from the fatigues and bring out the chest of the chestplate more so, I liked how it turned out, it wasnt too boob-a-rific as I have been told, but at the same time it gave me the feeling of knowing "its a girl" I also took a look at the elf heads and I think I might be better off crafting one out of green stuff unless I can find a suitable match so far it is an interesting project ^_^

I'd have to agree. In MARPAT and a flak, the only way I could tell a female from a male was by staring at their butt or watching their hips sway. Hair was covered by the kevlar too. They were also much much shorter than all of us male Marines. All guardsmen are the same height however so that shant really apply here...

If yo are willing to by models then forgeworld cadians with hassle-free heads work really well. They are shorter than the GW cadians and this (along with the heads) means they are obviously female.

I've been meaning to do some female guard for a while but finding the right conversion bits can be a nightmare. The phoenix modelling club had some great parts but they've sort of disappeared now.
Anyone know of any good alternatives?

ok i found a crappy nikon in the house so heres the picture... sorry its kinda rubbish.. anyway my attempt at a female guardsman... i dint want her to have the burdan of a heavy lasgun so i gave her a pistol, thinking of making here a sergent or body guard or something... what you may not be able to see is she is smuggling peanuts in her top.. its subtle, but after paint it should be quite visable... ive use a eldar male head and rounded off the nose a bit... it still might look like a dude in drag but i wont know untill i paint it...

o.o why is it whenever I leave the forum and don't check my threads I get so many replies? oh well thats not the question, but the point is I was able to place a head on her body and simply put a rebreather that came with the squad over the face, at the time, you cant really tell if its a guy or a girl, now that is there only until I can get my greenstuff, she also went from being a medic to becoming a junior officer, don't ask me how, but she did it ...
