i've just been nosing round the internet and found ogres converted into ogryns and it came to me that it may be possible to convert an ork in to an ogryn.
what i want to know is has anyone done this or seen it done? which orks would be best (i have the AOBR orks)? and does anyone have any ogre heads they want rid of?

I imagine the Nobs would be best as they're a lot larger than normal orks, which I imagine might look like Catachans on steroids if 'ogryn-ed up'.

Orks are more hunch over and I think even the black orks are slightly smaller. Also the Ogryns are fatter. But this shouldn't stop you! Please take some pictures and share with us what you come up with.

Yeah, I was seriously considering repainting my AoBR Nobz myself. They even have drum clip shootas!

They even have drum clip shootas! I love that detail too I'd be worried about the 'orkyness' of some of the armour/shoulder pad details, although I'm sure anyone with an ounce of greenstuff skill probably come up with something pretty decent!

Nah in all honestly the ogres are really your best bet... the ogres have a more humanoid proportions and the orks look like a humans with a back problem... I'm working on some ogres to ogryns and they look perfect... I really can't see how orks would look like people ... even with a ogre head.

Ok guys! I've done it! I painted an AoBR Nob into an ogryn! It actually looks really awesome. Ogres would have been better (as ashotninja proved in his picture thread), but I don't have the greenstuff or ogres for that project. I'll post some pics soon. The only problem is that I had to use a 28 mm base for the ogryn. Do you think anyone would have a problem with that?

How much would you need for the Ogres anyway?

Here we go!!! Purty cool! The only difference is that I cut off the skull on the shoota. It looked too orky.

Looks okay, it's not much smaller than the old ogryns. I would add some bulk to him to be more about the same size as the standard ogryns and put him on the right size base. Give him a huge backpack or something and give him thick soles for his boots (just some thick plasticard under his boots, dead simple). I would also add some aquillas and imperial equipment to make him look less orky (also adds bulk which is good). But as a first trial model, your totally on the right path. Keep it up!

I like I agree that it could be 'imperialified' for a more orgyn-y look, although it works perfectly as it is

well i take it back... it is possible to make an ork look like an ogryn... not bad mate... even the change of skin colour makes it look a hell of a lot less orky... as for sizes... well i guess an abnrmal human can be as big as you like... i think this would look a lot better on a 40mm base though... plans for any more?

AshotNINJA : The main reason to bulk him up to standard ogryn size is so that you follow the spirit of the rules. IMO, modelling to your advantage (like making powerful units smaller so that they can be easily hidden behind terrain etc) is not okey. I'm not saying DADCro is doing that but to avoid the whole isse I would bulk them up if I was him and the right size base is a must to me.

Ermmm... I'm sorry to say this, but to me it just looks like an Ork that has been painted with human skin tones... I think that some GS work needs to be done to give it a nose, and work done to make the ears more "human" looking...

I unfortunately don't have any green stuff. I'm asking for some for Christmas, though. However, even if I get some, I don't think I'll modify it anymore. I like it how it is.

I'm with trooper on this. Its just an ork with human skin colours. I think its a good idea, but if I was to use other models to convert an ogryn, I'd use fantasy ogres and then work on building weapons with bits box stuff and green stuff.

i'd have used a different head, and made it more imperial like others have mentioned but other than that i like it. i would do it had i not just sold all my orks
