I'm thinking of adding to my army with either a Leman Russ or a Manticore. Currently my army has
Command Squad
3 Infantry Squads
1 HWS
1 Sentinel
1 Valkyrie
1 Leman Russ Battle Tank kit (as yet unassembled until a friend of mine helps me magnetise it)
Which do you think would be best for this army? If it helps my group of friends are planning a Planetstrike campaign (and I'm building the custom bastions out of cardboard, huzzah!). I'm leaning towards getting a Demolisher kit, but the Manticore looks sexy.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with a Manticore. Absolutely great Unit.
The Demolisher and Executioner are pretty nice, too, but I really think you should have a Manticore available.

If I'm reading your list correctly, you already have one LRBT waiting assembly. So you're asking if you should add another LRBT or Manticore? If that's the case then yes I would agree with westrider. The Manticore is a pretty versatile unit, as is the LRBT, but diversifying your army is always the fun of it

Ah, I was leaning towards the Demolisher kit so I could build the other variants of Russ as well. I was initially planning to have the Demolisher so I would have something that can advance with my troops, but now that I think about it ranged artillery/missile support would be a good thing to stick with a long-ranged fire support group. The only thing I'm worried about is the low armour of the Manticore as one of my friends loves fielding that pesky Hammerhead.

I'd say that you should get a second troop choice instead.. As i see it now you only have 35 guys + a HWT.. That isn't enough..
Especially since you have a Valk, which needs troops in it to get maximum out of it..

Yeah. That was another option I was thinking of. I could get a command squad and infantry squad for the same amount. The more I think about it the more I think this might be the better option, even though I normally play in quite terrain and cover-heavy so the might of massed infantry is difficult to bring fully to bear due to LoS restraints.
I'm currently just running veterans, I'm quite new to the Guard and haven't had much time to collect an army. The Valkyrie was a recent gift, so I couldn't really plan on getting the infantry to stick in it.

Well personally i like putting a PCS with 4 flamers in a Valk/Detta, it makes them scoring and that is quite a fast unit.. Then you could always throw in the 20 man AC/GL blob squad that many people like.. That is a nice little troop choice right there..

I'd get a manticore, but you should also complete your nessecary FOC choices.

Manticore. All the way. Alright, the LR is devastating in all variants used wisely, but the chance of 3 big blast one turn? Awesome.

Manticore from my experience end up dead quite quickly. Enemy usually see a big danger in it for his army, so deepstrikers, outflankers are all out for Manticore's oil...
