I was just browsing the GW website (as I am wont to do when I do not know what else to do) when I came across the metal Melta and Plasma guns in the bitz section. Can these be (easily) attached to Guardsmen? I need more of these for some nice explosions and to melt marines.

I would assume so. You just have to remove the hand from the gun itself, which shouldn't be too hard. Just gotta give it some force

Aye, its easy to add the gun, but you'll probably want to glue a coin to the bottom of the base as it will unbalance a plastic model.

The hand can just be a glove - most people won't notice that it's not your guardsman's hand.

I actually just painted the guard on the back of the hand the same color as the armor on my guardsmen. Also, I would recommend removing the stock on the weapon because that will allow it to fit far easier.
