What's your favourite shell-lobbing machine of war and why?
Personally, I like the Griffon. I often face Tau, so the cheap, accurate AP 4 large blast barrage is quite effective.

Death Korps of Krieg Earthshaker batteries, just because a line of them looks so amazingly B.A.

Well since I just play regular guard I'd love to just put 3 bassies and a mortar full platoon on the back of the board and send chimera's with vets in roving forward...... Now that would make anyone poo there pants :3

Kriegeirk: Why not use the medusa platforms in the DKoK codex..? they are much better for the points.. Oh I would field the Medusa's any day of the week over the Earthshaker as they are much better. I just like the look of the Earthshaker's cannon towering over the battlefield I have a plan down along the road to do multiple diorama's featuring DKoK and Renegades having at it. One of my visions is to do an artillery emplacement with a line of Earthshakers and Medusa's. I just think it would be awesome

The DKoK Medusa Platforms are pretty much the be-all, end-all of 40K Field Artillery.
Within the regular Guard Dex, though, I'm also a fan of the Griffon. Nice, solid, cheap workhorse gun.

I haven't used it yet, but the manticore is what I'm going to get. They look like a steal for their price.

I am currently making some army lists to try others, however, up to this point I do love my basilisks. No target is ever too far away, and if they get up close just direct fire. Splat!

Well, I have to say, my favorite ordnance battery is Duracel. Keeps everything going.

Can we count the Emperor's Deliverance Rocket Battery? Three manticores plus attendant techpriests makes me all giddy, especially when they can launch all twelve missiles at a single target and then reload. I need to buy some more servitors, manticores and some ammo trucks though.

Death Korps of Krieg Earthshaker batteries, just because a line of them looks so amazingly B.A. Amen to that, Battle-Brother. Triple line of them with crew scurrying round, ranging-officers poring over map tables, guys peering in sextants ... just has Imperial Guard oozing out the edges! Currently have three, am looking at expanding to six. Also sending three of those Earthshaker shots so far behind the enemy's battle line that it hits them before they've even left big school, that's a plus.

I must say I have always love the grifon, no real reason really, I have always loved them ever since I first saw the old model in a battle at GW, back when I was 11. My second favourite would go to the bassy, as I just don't like the look of the others (the barrels are just too wide and stubby) and the manticores just look too top heavy for my liking.

I actually never liked manticores and deathstrikes for some reason. Why would they bring them along if they could fire from behind the lines.
That's why i like the bassie. Altough it too could fire from behind the line, it looks like a tank hunter (think marder), and would be valuable on the front lines.

IMO bassies look like the 'behind the line' vehicles. (that's why they have a range of 20') but whatever. To each his own.

I think the reloading thing does it for me. A bassie can shoot all game if it survives. When a manticore has fired its rockets its just a box with a flamer or a bolter. Same goes for deathstrike. You don't send a scud into the middle of an enemy army. You watch it kill enemies on a satelite transmission behind your desk Totally my 2 cents though.

Usually, if a manticore lives long enough to fire all it's rockets, you should be happy. But I totally agree with the deathstrike.

The Griffon any day in the week. Nothing else can land their grenades as accurate as they can thus handing over as many dices as they can for such small amount of points. The main reason though is that they are the coolest models.

Now i would give an arm for 2 classic griffons with the old cadian models.
