So, as I have mentioned before the plan for my IG army (The Krinov Fifth) is to include at least on or a few models of each regiment that GW has produced (cadian, catachan, tallarn etc) and I've managed to find all the models I want and need (except for Attilans, I can't find a use for rough riders in my army and there are no unmounted Attillans). I've been thinking of a way to tie the army together, uniform-wise so that they don't look too much like a bunch of rag-tag misfits... Which they are, but I still want them to look like they belong to the same army of misfits. The plan is that everyone who have shoulder pads will have teh left pad painted grey with the blue 'V' (for Krinov's Fifth) on it. I did a quick mockup just to see what it would look like. What do you say, yay or nay? Without shoulder badge: With: Side by side-comparison: As a side note. The heraldic colours of Krinov's Fifth are white and blue. All insignia, like the lightning should patch on the steel legion models and the 'v' on the Vostroyans are in those colour which also helps tying the army together. Is this enough or does teh painted should patch look cool enough that I should go with it? Krinovian Sentinel "Ace of Spades" with typical Krinovian white and blue markings:

I like the patch. I did skull decals for my army marking. It's working out pretty well.

I like it, although it stands out a bit too much with the rest of the model. Maybe paint the other pad and helmet/lasgun in the same grey colour to make it 'blend in' a bit better.

I agree with 3ff3ct about the shoulders and helmet, but I'm not sure about the lasgun. I like my lasguns to match the flak armour chestpiece of my guardsmen.

I think the model without the shoulder badge looks much nicer. The current badge clashes too much with the camo scheme, and I don't think painting the other shoulder pad with the same base color would help out. I really like your camo effect, and wouldn't mess with it.

I like it without it. It's just not practical to have a color so off from the camo. It's possible to have the markings on the shoulder without it covering the entire piece of armor. Maybe just make it in the lower right or left hand corner or something.
