Well, I was reminiscing about my days at art college.....it was only last year but I miss it........and I remembered using 'Letraset transfer letters'. They're incredibly easy to use and so I thought, has anyone thought about using these on models? Especially vehicles. They don't leave a shiny effect around the letters like normal transfers, as it's basically just ink. I was looking for good fonts and I found this one... www.amazon.co.uk/Rubdown-Lettering-A5-English-Black/dp/B0027ITKP4/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1327351717&sr=8-9Any thoughts? Would people contemplate using them?

Haha I had a look on the actual Letraset website and they've got loads, and I've just done a tester... Not too bad, just takes some practice.

nice... that does look pretty perfect... i really dislike the transfers that come with the vehicles anyway... they never seem to have the style that i want... Helvetic MC is the font im after and there on amazon... so i just brought a few sheets... yay! to think that i binned literally thousands of sheet and font books almost a decade ago kinda annoys me now..
cheers cosmic for reminding me of it..

My only problem is getting the individual letters lined up right as a word, its a bit fiddly. Other than that, they are vastly superior to the transfers

But are they normal transfers? Cut them out, soak them and apply them?
Letraset you literally just rub it on. No Micro-set or Micro-sol to get a good finish, no matt varnish. Just the tip of a paintbrush.

Back during the second ed era I used similar transfers from Avery. I loved them cause you didnt have to do an extra gloss cote to hide the glossy outline . Also, sice there is no carrier film on the model it is impossable to get a silvering effect as with improperly applied watertransfers. Im going to have to stop by office depot later and see what the have
