Hey y'all, I ordered a can of this stuff from Wayland, as I thought it would be a good idea to varnish my guys to protect them.
However since then, I keep seeing posts about how it's really temperamental and ruins figures easily.
Now I'm concerned - has anyone pinned it down to what causes this and how to avoid it?

I believe it's the same problems you can get with most spray cans, they're VERY temperamental to temperature and the such.
I may be wrong though

...they're VERY temperamental to temperature and the such. And moisture/humidity. Hot dry days are the best for varnishing. Other than that, yep they're as good as the next spray varnish

I think I've seen that the safest bet is to coat with gloss first, then matte. Just need to figure out which! Cheers for the tips.

Really? That sounds like an opportunity for double disaster!! Or maybe that's my inner pessimist. At least you'd be certain it wouldn't chip

Most military modellers do gloss varnish first, and then Matte varnish it for a final effect so it obviously has something too it.
