As part of my on going frustration fighting my friends Blood Angels, we had a close match last night. We both threw together our lists last minute and were just focused on having a fun game. So far my record, including this game vs him is 1-4. Eh…
I know my list isn’t very “competitive” or 100% optimized but it’s my style and I don’t have any transports.
CCS- Power wep, medic, MoO, LC, vet with CCW
PCS- Flamer x2
2 Combined squads- Commie, Power wep x3
1Squad- AC, GL
Vet squad- Melta x2, GL, Carapace
5 Ratlings
LRBT- LC, HBs
LR Executioner – Hull HB, Plasma Sponsons
Should come out to 1000 even
VS
BA Captain – Power wep, combi melta, jump pack
Death Company – 8 men, 2 power weapons, 1 power fist, 3 with bolters
Rhino- Storm bolter
Death Company Dread- Blood tallons, melta, flamer
Assault squad- 5 men, combat shield/power fist/melta bomb sergeant, flamer
Assault squad- 5men, power weapon/combat shield/meltabomb sergeant, flamer
Assault squad- 5 men, power weapon/combat shield/melta bomb/infernus pistol sergeant, flamer
He said he was at 1000 exactly and I believe him, I may have mixed up or forgotten exactly how the upgrades were on his assault squads
Spearhead deployment, killpoints, Blood Angels go first.
Turn 1
He moves his Dread and 1 assault squad behind a building, behind cover from my tanks. One other assault squad jumps into trenched for cover in mid field, passes terrain. The 3rd assault squad, Captain and Death comp. w/ rhino move to the right flank and hide behind a forest.
Vets are in reserve. I move my combined squad closer to the trenches where the assault squad is. LRBT shoots at marines in trenches miss/saves everything. Executioner unloads on marines in trenches and kills 4. CCS shoots lascannon at the dread, immobilizing it, MoO scatters and hits nothing. Combined squad shoots at last marine in the trench and kills him. PCS does nothing, AC squad shoots at the dread, does nothing. My ratlings infiltrated at the opposite corner behind him, take some potshots at marines behind the forest and I roll 5 1s….
Turn2
His marines behind the building jump over it and assault my standard Russ. Russ is immobilized, stunned and loses the battlecannon. His rhino move 12” around the forest and unloads death comp in front of my AC team in my forest, kills 5 with shooting. His right flank assault squad and Captain jump over the forest and land next to Death Company but out of assault range of my blob.
Vets stay out. My AC squad breaks and runs 6” back into the forest. My ratlings are out of range, so move/run closer to the fighting. My executioner swings around to get a better shot at the squad assault the other tank, he shoots and kills the whole squad. I got lucky rolling lots of direct hits. My CCS shoots at the dread again blowing off the melta arm, MoO scatters and almost hits my own tank! Combined squad move closer to death company. I get about 20 rapid fire shots off and end up killing 3 death company after his FNP.
Turn3
His assault marines and Death Company advance and shoot pistols/ flamer into my combined squad killing a handful, the assaults. His rhino shot into the blob but did nothing. Captain jumps 12” shoots a pistol and assaults my PCS. My combined squad takes heavy casualties but manages to kill 1 death company, I hold moral. His captain and my PCS roll horribly and do no wounds, stay locked.
Vets are still lost. Ratlings move/run closer to get in range. AC team recovers and moves back to where they were before, shoot a grenade at the rhino, nothing. Executioner kills off the dread. MoO drops a bomb by the rhino scatters partially on my AC team but make cover saves. His assault squad and death company kill all my combined squad except for a sergeant and a commissar. Swing back, and kill another death company. Fail moral, this is unacceptable and the commissar shoots the sergeant, fails again and dies in a sweeping advance. Death comp consolidates into forest, and assault marines closer to the Executioner. Captain cuts down the PCS and moves towards the CCS.
Turn4
His rhino wheels around the forest to shoot at my ratlings, misses. His assault marines assault my executioner and wreck it, and stay hidden behind the wreckage. Death company has horrible rolls and move something like 3-4” out of vision/assault range of my AC team. His Captain shoots and assaults the command squad killing all but the medic and the commander.
Veterans roll a 1….. really? Ratlings shoot at the rhino (only thing in range) does nothing. AC team in forest advance on last 2 members of Death Company, shoot a grenade and las pistol but does nothing. I assault them. He kills 2 but I hold. His commander finishes off my CCS.
Turn5
Rhino shoots at ratlings, kills 1. Assault marines jump over the wreckage, shoot an infernus pistol into my crippled Russ, it explodes taking a marine with it! Captain jumps in the forest , passes terrain. Joins the fight with death company and the AC team. Somehow the AC team survived (lots of 1s to wound) the first swings and manage to kill the last 2 death company!
Vets finally show up! They melta, and rapid-fire lasgun the last of the marines down. Ratlings shoot at the rhino helplessly, the shots bounce off. My AC team gets cut down in a sweeping advance from the captain.
Turn6
Worthless shooting between the rhino and ratlings.
Between difficult terrain and out of range LOS nothing happens. Game ends.
Blood angels win with 6 killpoints. IG has 5……. Now that I think of it I don’t think death company counts for killpoints so I only got 4?
All in all I had a good time, I felt like I did a lot more damage than my previous games, his servivors were the rhino and his captain with all wounds, mine were 4 ratlings and full squad of vets.
