Thinking of starting salamanders but I've come across a problem.
I like consistency in my models and even though i've seen good mixes, I would prefer to use a single shade of green on them.
Any suggestions ? I like darker shades for salamanders and goblin green looks too funky for my tastes

Do you mean that you just want to use paints from the GW range rather than mixes of them? Or do you just want to use one single green that isn't mixed?

It's very grey. Maybe starting with a grey paint, painting Goblin Green over it and then highlighting grey and washing black would work?
I know it is still using Goblin Green but I think the other greens might be a bit too dark for that scheme.

How will you stop them from looking too much like Dark Angels?

I've always done them with a mix, although I used Dark angels Green as the base colour. I'm not sure what other paints ranges have, although there may be some in the Vallejo range that would suit your needs (and they're generally cheaper than GWs paints)
