I've only played four games of fantasy, 1 against O&G, 1 against Dwarves, and two against wood elves. I play pure Khorne, and am playing this list;
Bloodthister of Khorne w/ Armour of Khorne, Firestorm Blade 490p
Herald of Khorne w/ Armour of Khorne, Juggernaut of Khorne Banner of Hellfire 290p
Skulltaker 150pts
20 Bloodletters w/ full command 270p
20 Bloodletters w/ full command 270p
7 Flesh Hounds of Khorne w/ Karanak 320p
Bloodcrushers of Khorne Champion and Icon of Endless War 205pts
That's 1995
Now I lost my first ever game, to wood elves, but it was a close game, very close, and his archers carried the day for him. The other three games I played I have won, and by quite a way. The Wood elf player says it is down to beginners luck, we both know it's not down to tactical genius, but the O&G player and the Dwarf player both think that it's the Army book, and are saying that it is down to Ward's overpowering rules style. I don't really like playing OP lists, I like one that is more fair, or more of a challenge for me, so is this list over powered? Is there a way for me to make it less powerful without straying from pure Khorne? Thanks

Daemons and empire are pretty OP. Some races are more OP than others and in 8th and possibly before elves were really stupidly strong. I hear dark elves with wych lists can be stupid.
If you want a less overpowered faction choose skaven, orcs and goblins, possibly vampire counts, maybe lizardmen, vampire counts, tomb kings, ogre kingdoms, maybe bretonnia, beastmen and a bunch of other groups.
However elves (except maybe wood elves), empire, daemons and possibly warriors of chaos and dwarfs are all stupidly strong.
Empire are incredibly shooty and have great guns, decent magic and dumber weapons than you'd believe. They're like imperial guard from 40k on the tabletop but without fluff about them always losing and without the disadvantages from killpoints or the worst melee.
Dwarfs are heavy gunline and i'm only saying they might be overpowered because in a big game they too can just lay down a gunline and have powerful, tough and strong frontline troops. Sure dwarfs don't have magic but getting spells off against dwarfs is next to impossible. They also have insanely high leadership. The one good thing about facing dwarfs is that they always one charge and flee 1" short so they get caught easily and fail to catch others easily. Not to mention their movement speed is pathetic. Also dwarf initiative is terrible.
Warriors of chaos have the most ridiculous core unit in the game. It has initiative 5 if i remember correctly +3 armor saves and toughness and strength 4 before you even give them upgrades to be even stupider and more disgusting. For their points warriors of chaos are cheap and they're core for god's sake. However other than that unit being not too easy to counter normally they aren't too bad i think but it's still really stupid.
High elves and dark elves have high initiative and though weak and the one or two good ways to handle them are shooting or possibly using magic against them (if that fails use a very tough hard to kill unit that can bring out the damage) high elves and dark elves will still hit a lot and will stack those attacks up. I've even heard about dark elves having wych lists with an altar of khaine boosting them to ridiculous levels.
Daemons i've heard are up there with the empire. Both are at the way top of overpowered armies. I don't know all the details of daemons as i haven't read the details of them and i still think empire may be stupider but the melee of daemons is probably stronger. At least in fantasy people seem to have more different types of daemons than the pure nurgle 40k lists i used to see all the time. I still hear for what they are they're overly powerful.
So in warhammer fantasy there are plenty of overpowered armies but empire and daemons are at the top. You've never had to face a power gamer with both armies and a low loss ratio like i have. Facing empire and daemons players esp. if they make a stupid list are very not fun to play. I only say empire might be worse because people may do the 3 mortar, 2 steam tanks, 1 cannon, 3-4 pidgeon bombing master engineers list that i had to deal with. Chances are if you can get half of your army across the table to face empire you're lucky and then you have to face the supremely stupid steam tanks which don't only shoot into combat and not count as allowing you to have a charge reaction they also have a profile written by some stupid overly-excited 5-8 year old. Sure you hit them instantly in melee but their profile is toughness 10 with 10 wounds and a +1 armor save. Unless you have a ridiculous weapon or an initiative test or die weapon or ability up there it'll end horribly for you. In one game i got one down to 3 wounds or so and the guy said that's the closest anybody had come up until then to killing it.
Then there's the elves which normally lose to shooting armies or win against many other armies. In my opinion elves are one of the easier beginner armies to have. I'm not sure if the island of blood had elves to their peak of efficiency but if you ever have to face a block of 50 spearmen or even sea guard you'll understand how stupid elves can be. However dwarfs, empire and shooty wood elves just destroy high elf and dark elf armies.
So really tactics and army lists can balance things out a bit but these armies when played by people are looked down upon and people will look down upon you for playing said armies. I can understand if you like the faction but in a game standpoint as factions each is currently too powerful.
