I'm thinking of making a template to press green stuff into to make the 2mm x 2mm Black Templar Icons for my Marines... (basically to fit the shoulder pad)
I have previously had success on a similar project by making a rectangular block shape which when sliced as a cross section produced a number of identical pieces... though the pieces were simple rectangles so was very easy!
the trouble is that I'll be needing to make over 100 templar Icons!
Maybe if I find a pasta shape maker or play-dough squeezer that can have a templar cross shape put over it?.. this would be ideal, because then I would just have to slice it thinly and I would get a load of neat icons to work with.
I really like green stuff for its dual qualities - while soft it can be shaped into any crevice and fill gaps etc, also makes nice textures, and is really good for organic cloth / skin work... - while dry and hard it can be cut to make right angles and solid chunky shapes which are ideal for weapons and tank bits...
I guess I'm being lazy because I don't want to paint the templar cross loads of times, and want to have a 3D raised edge to guide my brush... It would look really cool though.
If anyone knows of any means to help achive this I'd be most happy to hear your thoughts!
... what about making a metal 'biscuit' cutter.... hmmm

Yeah, even though I have yet to use it myself, I know someone who has tried Instant Mold, and from when I last spoke with him he seemed pleased with it...

Instant Mold looks great, I think I'll be investing in some as the next thing I buy!
I don't know if its the tool for the job here though, Ideally I want to make a templar stick of rock - you know how a stick of sugar candy / rock has text written in it and it is the same all the way down, with each slice / bite revealing more of the same pattern through the cross section.... this is what I want to make - just in a cross shape.
I might make a small version so I can show you what I mean by this...
I will try the Instant Mold process once I get some. It would also be really handy for the Eldaanesh Corsairs as I'm running out of good claws already! (plus I'll never b short of special weapons again!).
cheers for the feedback!
