Hi all
I am playing a campaign and am about to continue my attacks against the necron player’s territory. Most of these games are played at 1k. I have played against him twice. He always uses a monolith at 1k. He also likes to use both the doomsday arc and that annihilation barge. The rest is units of warriors, and a lord backed up with lychguard. He also is able to field that forge world necron tome stalker though hasn’t used it yet.
The monoliths is what I’m always concerned about as the eternity gate eats my troops if I bob them.
I was thinking of this force to take. The campaign is fairly loose and not locking down an army in terms of what you can field until a unit gets a veteran level then it’s locked into your list. I have a factory and command bastion so get an extra 50 points and the ability to give any special rule to 1 unit. But my opponent also has the same structures.
HQ: Coy Command (power fist, plasma pistol, plasma gun, medic) – 120
Troops: Platoon Pl Command (plasma pistol, power wep, plasma gun, medic, vox) – 100 IS (plasma gun) – 65 IS (plasma gun) - 65
Troops: Veterans (Meltas x2, power sword, plasma pistol, Grenadiers) – 120
X4 Chimeras – 220
Valkyrie: (rokit pods) – 130
Lemun Russ demolisher (lascannon, melta sponsors) – 210 Total 1050
As I will be attacking his territory which has a structure it will be a seize ground battle. I would leave my coy command and platoon near my base in their chimeras, my vets and Valkyrie would go for objective and id give scout to my tank so it can outflank. This is also a vital teritory.

Well it is a good fun list.. Not a super optimized list, but properbly fun.. Personally i'd drop do the following: - Drop powerfist, I1 with only S6 isn't gonna do alot.. - Drop Medics, Waaay to expensive for what they do and they take up special weapon slots.. If you want more survivability get carapace armor.. - Drop the single Vox you have.. It is a clear sign of a list not thought through when i see single Vox casters as there is no benefit from having just 1.. - Fill you Veterans with meltas, don't just take 2.. - Fill you CCS with plasmas, don't take 1.. Worthless to only take one.. Don't bring a IKEA hammer to a hammer fight.. - Fill PCS with special weapons too.. - Run Multilaser + heavy flamer on your Chimeras.. Those are some of the things i'd do anyway.. Kras..

Shoot thought I put a vox in all my units.
The chimeras I use are base with a heavy flamer and multilaser.
Ussaly in 1k against his necrons I take 3 heavy wep teams with lascannons with my Coy command near and use bring it down, but as I now can give a special rule to 1 unit wanted to see if an outflanking lemun russ demilisher can fill the role of destroying his armour.

Well the theory works.. Problem is that you'd need to roll the right side.. Consider giving the tank Infiltrate instead of Scout.. That way you can be in Multimelta Range on turn 1 if you have first turn (also if you have second turn, but it is just a bit more risky..) this way deployment dosn't contain the element of risk.. And if all els fails, you'd still be allowed to outflank using infiltrate.. It is good that you have the melta vets as a backup plan anyway..

The monoliths is what I’m always concerned about as the eternity gate eats my troops if I bob them. If your opponent is using the new codex the Monolith now is just a joke. Melta bomb it! It can't get away from assaulting troops as it only moves six inches.

Getting eaten by the eternity gate seems to be what his problem is when he goes to melta bomb them. New Monolith isn't as tough as the old one, but getting close to it is much more deadly.
Don't write it off because living metal doesn't work the same way anymore, it got cheaper points wise and picked up a whole bunch of new tricks as a trade off.

Then perhaps my buddy who used the Monolith against me didn't understand it's new abilities or forgot to use them. Alternately you could throw a priest with an eviserator at it. That would be fun to watch.
