Hey everybody,
I plan on making a Psyker Battle squad complete with a chimera.
What colors/themes do you think I should use for their chimera?
Maybe a strange off color camo (think dark red, gray, pale yellow, etc).
Or perhaps have the chimera melted with my propane torch to make it looked warped and then cover with all manner of weird symbols and lightning bolts?
Get as weird as you want. Every suggestion will be considered.
As always...thank you in advance for your responses.
Also what weapons should I equip the chimera with? I was thinking HB/HB to stay with the 36" range of the Psyker powers and to have some AP that will mesh better with their Soulstorm.

HB/HB sounds good....
Maybe something black/purple to keep it looking mystic but also aside from the battleforce (which I am assuming you have painted up in some nice army greens and maybe even with camo). If you want something challenging, the purple could be source-lit from the edges of the armour places/door splits etc to give it a glow from the inside appeal.

What about burning runes of warding covering the hull. You could also do it in matt black the same as the black ships that come and collect psykers from worlds to take them to psyker training or death! I would go black with runes all over the hull personally (I think I just talked my self into that!)

Magic makes me think of purple. Maybe do like one of those purple camo schemes?

Personally I wouldn't go overboard with glowing runes and everything. They may be a Psyker Squad but in the end it's just a Chimera. Maybe just add a few written passages and extra details around the hull such as ornaments.

Do it in your color scheme and put on a bunch of those paper scrolls and Purity seals and stuff.

I'm afraid to admit that the parts of my army that are painted were done so by others and purchased that way. Which is fine but they don't match at all.
I do like the matte black idea. And the purity seals and scripture I hadn't even thought of!!
Wow. So many good ideas and fast too. Thanks guys!

Sorry. So you're one of those buy to play guys huh?
If you aren't being sarcastic, it means that you just paint models to play the game, not because you enjoy it.

I'm on a budget and live frugal but I do want a really nice painted army eventually. I am no where near the painting level most of you guys are at. But I will progress of course.

as long as the effort is there to improve your skills, you're doing fine. i remember when i 1st started, its bad to what i can do now, but at that time i fully encouraged myself by taking photos and get critiques from fellow mates as to how to improve, i sold and trade some old minis off, even strip the hard to find minis with Simply Green to repaint it.
keep up the good work mate.

Washes! Thats all you need!
Base colour and then a wash or 2 and you have a beautifully done mini! I have very little free time with 3 kids, a dog, work and the long haired general so I tend to be quite a lazy painter and I use armypainter spray as the base colour and then wash things.

I would go for the matte black hull with Codex grey to pick out details. All the metal I would use brass to make them stand out. Add ward symbols, At one place an inquisitor I to show they are sanctioned. Also written texts (see if you can find my covenant Space Marine army for vehicle inspiration). Purity seals are good and space marine incense holders...you know stuff that make you think monastic ritualised stuff......

NO! Never add Ward symbols! It promotes Chaos!

NO! Never add Ward symbols! It promotes Chaos! The only Ward symbol that would be tolerable would be Ward's severed head......

What immediately came to mind for me is some kind of large psychic null device, like a librarian's hood. Something like a large copper coil surrounding the passenger compartment. Lots of wires.
