Hey guys,
I ended up a little disappointed with the GW spray gun. It developed a leak in the paint pot and it was my first time using it and I think I messed up the paint mixture (tried to thicken it, too thick, tried to water it down, went back to being too watery) and it ended up pooling up on the model. Needless to say it's packed away in the bucket of wasted cash now because for the cost of the models you could be ruining as well, and the propellant, etc. etc. I've just decided to go back to brush.
It's salvageable, as my colour scheme is pretty basic, but I wondered if anyone here had any tips for doing the tanks by brush, where to start, what to avoid, how thin should the paint be etc.
I'm using (GW) Desert Yellow if it helps, and the tank is a Chimera at this point. The Guardsmen themselves will be a haul, but I have quite a large foot slogging space marine force so painting them by brush in large numbers I'm okay with. However anybody with any tips here I would also approve of posting.
Sentinel tips would also be welcome.
I'm using a black/grey/white undercoat using a mix of the two basecoat sprays.
P.S. Army painter Desert Yellow = GW Desert Yellow?

Try www.thearmypainter.com/ for a colour near what you want. I use Angel Green for my tanks as both the primer and base. Works a treat and is 110% better than the stupid thing GW produced. The other alternative is to buy a compressor (about £80-£100 for a decent one) and use that with the spray gun instead of the propellant cans.

^ as above, army painter sprays are godly. As for dipping, well..... Have a look on amazon, the one I've got is on there (its ace) and it's a bit cheaper too. Last link I saw Cosmic had, try pestering him for it

Dipping is necessarily as bad as it is made out to be..
It does create nice looking models if you painting to play and not the other way around.. And calling it "dipping" kinda insinuates that the model i actually dipped into the pot, this isn't the case and shouldn't be done IMO, it should be applied with a brush like any other wash..
