Modelling power swords

Hey all,
I've been thinking about running a blob squad with power weapons on the Sergeants and Commi but all my Sgt models are armed with Chainswords.
I'm looking for ideas from others as to what conversion bits you've used to represent power swords. I know there's the one from the command squad but that's pretty rare on bitz sites. I also don't much fancy paying through the nose for the specific GW models armed with power swords.
I'm thinking along the lines of WHFB Empire swords with guitar wire running to the hilt but some other ideas would be appreciated.

WHFB is the ones i use..

Tried with the Kromlech ones, but they tend to be more Marine sized..

Personally i paint it going from hilt to tip: Black with more and more Enchanted blue, then when you hit enchanted blue.. Start mixing skull white in it.. until you end at the very tip with a very light blue.. Then highlight in white/blue (90/10)
