So I know how searchlights typically work, if the vehicle can shoot at its target unit after checking for night fighting, then every other unit doesn't need to check sight range to target that unit for that shooting phase. How does this work on the searchlights on artillery since barrage just have an extra d6 added to scatter in night fighting? Does it instead apply to any unit(s) that fall under the blast template as if it were a flare launched as part of the barrage, or would you still have to check the 2d6 range to see if the searchlight sees it as if the Basilisk was firing directly? It may be a stupid question in retrospect, but I figured it was worth asking.

I think that the searchlight mentions something about having to spot the target with a night fighting check, although I can't quite remember if it does. I would say that searchlights can't spot from the barrage attack unless they are in sight range too. At least that is how I would play it.

I would agree that you still need to roll to see the target for the search lights to work, but why would you do that and allow your opponent to see your artillery? Surely your better using the search light from a chimera so that your opplnent only gets free shots at that!

I thought that "acquire the target" meant making a night fighting check, but simply wanted to make sure that hitting the target would not also fulfill the requirement. The reason being for artillery to use artillary is that it would not need to have LOS (avoiding the issue of giving the enemy free hits back) if hitting the target counted as "acquiring," and barrage weapons do not test for night fighting visibility, they simply add 1d6 to any resulting scatter.
