So I was thinking, if I wanted to make a veteran squad with a mortar. What would you field else and how would you equip it? How would you use them in a game?
I was thinking a veteran squad with 3 x Sniper Rifle, Mortar and Grenadiers (just for fluff). Lay them near a objective and fire, pin troops.
So what is your idea? Critique, comments?

I would give them forward sentries to go togheter with the snipers for fluff reasons. No sure how fou fit mortars and snipers togheter for a fluffy reason, but that's your call to make

I'd say sniper rifles, for the multiple pinning tests, or possibly grenade launchers for the extra frag templates. It might be a good idea to add forward sentries to the squad too, and use them to camp objectives.

Forward sentries, snipers and a mortar if you plan on using them to force pin checks.. (PBS combo)
If you want to use them in a anti infantry role, i'd say mortar and grenade launchers because of the synergi in the templates and the S.. + you have the S6 shots if something in a tank comes along..
You'd want forward sentries to get the 3+ cover save instead of the 4+ armor save..

Thanks for all the comments!
Would you say it's worth taking Harker for 25 points more than the forward sentries?

I'd say sniper rifles, for the multiple pinning tests, I think a squad can only force one pinning test regardless of the number of pinning weapons that generate a wound.

That i don't know. His relentless rule is wasted when he stays put with the mortar, and vice versa.
@ Rook : yeah true but more pinning weapons allow more chances of a pinning wound. If you only have one and it fails to claim a scalp, though luck.....

Harker, I don't think is worthwhile here. He wants a mobile Squad to work with, while this Unit is going to be largely wasting his Infiltrate, Move Through Cover, and Relentless if they're mostly camping a backfield Objective and passing out Pinning Tests.
Mortar, 3 Sniper Rifles, and Forward (Backfield?) Sentries seems about right, but is a bit expensive for a Backfield Objective Camping Unit. Not too bad, but I usually try to keep those at around 100 Points or less.
