So me and Empty got to play another game against each other.
We decided to play 1250 (an addition of 250 per side) as we'd both finished painting new things and wanted to try them out - I had got a few Skorcha Trakks of ebay and Empty had a beautiful Deffkopta..
Tread's Red and Black Grimy Orks:
A notable change was that I swapped the Big Mek for another Warboss with big choppa.. this turned out to be a good idea.
Nobz Mob - 10 Nobz with Big Choppa, Waaargh Banner.
+ 2 Warboss with Big Choppa, One with Bosspole, One with Eavy Armour.
Boyz Mob - 19 Boys + Nob with Big Choppa
Boyz Mob - 19 Boys + Nob with Big Choppa
Rokkit Buggies x 3
Skorcha Trakks x 3
BoomWagon x 2
Empty's Very Yellow Bad Moon Orks:
Warboss Twin-linked shoota, power klaw, boss pole
5 Burna Boyz
7 Nobz 1 Painboy, 2 big choppas
20 Boyz (Shootas) Nob with power klaw and bosspole, 2 Big shootas
20 Boyz (Sluggas)
20 Boyz (Shootas) Nob with power klaw and bosspole, 2 Big shootas
Deff Dread with 4 CCWs, grot riggers
Killa Kan Skorcha
Killa Kan Skorcha
Deffkopta + TL Rokkitz
3 Shoota Buggies
1 Boomwagon (now where'd he get that idea from?).
We set up the table and decided to play capture and control over pitched battle deployment.
We set 4 objectives : the aircraft, the ammo crates, the fuel depot and the wrecked fuel transporter. We agreed that any part of terrain that loked like it was part of these objectives would count so we ended up with quite a large area of the table counting as scoring.
We also decided to play the 'ticker', so one point was scored for each objective held per full turn.
Once again Empty was able to deploy already in contact with 2 oobjectives - even though Tread had won the roll for first turn and deployment. (mainly because that was where we had put the models while getting ready!).
(note that Empty's dread was set up behind his looted wagon in the bottom right of the picture)
Treads Boyz gettin' ready to charge:
Empty's Dread Preparin' to Mince some Ork:
.
.
.
Treads 1st Turn:
Tread advances, the rokkit buggies zooming under the wing of the aircraft and firing at Empty's Looted Wagon... and amazingly causing it to explode... (sorry)...
.
.
.
Empty's 1st Turn:
The buggies and units at the top of the table advanced toward the ammo crates (in front of the 'metal bawkses')... meanwhile...
Empty moved his Deffkopta up to the Boom Wagon in the far left corner - having already scouted this meant he could fire at the side armour...
but was unable to hit, so the rest of his shooty mob opened up to show the pilot how its done:
and ripped into the Nobz mob hiding in the dust left by the rokkit buggies and the buggies themselves, and cheered when they blew up a rokkit buggy:
spurred on by thier success, the kopta pilot charges the wagon but fails to hurt it:
.
.
.
Treads Turn 2, scoring 1 for the ammo crates and 1 for the aircraft
The boyz advance slowed on both flanks having reached the objectives, while the skorchas bravely moved to block the deff dread.
And with some more un-naturally accurate shooting a BoomWagon took out a KillaKan:
And to make matters worse, a deluge of pistol shots from the boyz camping the ammo crates took out the deffkopta... while the other boyz just got bored and decided to scramble about on top of the aircraft:
.
.
.
Emptys Turn 2, Scoring 1 for the Fuel Depot, 1 for the Fuel Transport
Total 2
Advancing into shoota range Empty's boyz crept up the top flank toward the ammo crates, the slow but sure grind of attrition wearing down the mob that was spread across the objective, slowly reducing the number of the mob hiding in the ruins.
While in the centre his ladz hovered around the objective and tried to inflict damage on the rokkit buggies that were shooting up his deff dread:
Empty's Dread was frustrated and had a good few swings (6) at the Skorchas, unfortunately, (as was the case through out much of the first few turns), luck was against him.
But at the other end of the battlefield, Empty's killaKan had moved into range of the Boyz sitting by the ammo crates, and having set them alight with its skorcha charged them with a clanking roar...
.
.
.
Treads 3rd Turn, 1 for the aircraft - ammo crates contested.
Total 3
Treads Nobz wasted no time in charging into the fray, hoping to rescue another of their Choppa Nobz from mechanised dissaster...
.. while the boys bt the aircraft just monkeyed about a bit more
and the skorchas took up position on empty's table edge - looking dangerously like they would skorch either the rear armour of the Dread or toast the Boys on the Fuel depot objective:
Empty's Shoota Buggies look over at the massed assault with itchy trigger fingers.. waiting for the fight to finish:
which it does in due coures, a smoking wreck is all that remains.. and the boys consolidate back into the ruins, while the nobs hold the objective.
.
.
.
Empty's Turn 3, Scoring 1 for Fuel Wreck - Depot Contested
Total 3
With the Nobz in range of many guns it was time to give them a pasting and they were liberally sprayed with bullets, as were the surving Boys hiding in the ruins.. bit by bit whittling the numbers down... unfortunatly Treas Boom Shells had also been in effect, somewhat hampering the boys numbers along the top flank.
The Boys by the Depot charged the Skorha Trakks, even remembering to fire thier pistols at them first, but to no avail, lady luck / Gork / Mork was not favouring Empty at all...
Meanwhile the Dread was finally in charge range of its most irritating opponent on the battlefield..
And his Nob eyed up the opposing Warboss and gave a mighty Below.. and charged... hopelessly outnumbered and praying that Gork would finally respond to his calls...
...
Meanwhile, there was more shooting through ruins, pinging of the Metal Bawkses and sending up puffs of smoke in the debris...
Peering through the windows, Empty's boys got ready to charge.. this would be a turn to tip the balance..
WAAAAAAARGH
all the while, a BoomWagon sat watching, its crew taking bets on who would hit who first...
..and, not forgetting the dread:
...or the ladz by the Skorcha Trakks....
.
.
.
to be finished later...
