After seeing some cool IG helicopter conversions on other sites I decided to give it a try to make my own. For my projects I took a GW Valkyrie model and a 1/48 scale Revell Hind Helicopter kit I found for $13. The concept was to a nose swap and see what I came up with.
Here are the kits

Note that the helicopter halves are NOT glued together.
After nose amputation and before reattachment (the helicopter halves were glued together after the nose was cut off)

Here is the Valk nose prepped for attachment to the Hind fuselage. In order to get the cockpit canopy below the engines I had to create and add a spacer to the "tail" of the Valk cockpit assembly. I used track guards from an IG tank. I also cut down a door from a Rhino top hatch to make a bomb bay door on the bottom of the tail spacer.

Here's a look at the Valk/hind with out weapons (I'm waiting on a shipment of magnets and greenstuff before I do the weapons and paint)

In a flash of brilliance I decided to make the helicopter into a search and rescue asset so I came up with a cable and hoist arm attachment. Here it is retrieving a wounded soldier from the battle field. Note the wings of the Hind are not attached, I am going to magnatize the weapons and it works better if you do it before you attach the wings.

They are a little crude but this is my first attempt at a major conversion. I have a chimera/leman russ/maticore conversion I am also working on. Any ideas on improvements?
As promised here are some final product photos. I pulled the rappeler off to make his cable longer. With the short cable he ended up right in front of one of the twinlinked lascannons. Not a good place to be. I am making a longer cable and will reattach in the future.
