Sounds like a good idea. I just hope they do some heresy era Imperial Army stuff instead of just the Marines.

They've finally figured out that they better cash in on that 1st Ed Nostalgia before A) that generation dies, or B) I do.

Interesting. But there's no reason I can't already make a pre-Heresy Alpha legion army using existing releases and already existing rules.
The only unofficial 30k event pack that I heard of back in 2007 (probably a download from Tempus Fugitives) apparently had some kind of Tau and Imperial Guard additional rules, so it wasn't all SM. Thousand Sons armies will probably just play similar to GK in that all squads will have psychic powers.

I would welcome Pre-heresy models for the now Chaos legions. But not the 'oh my army is a detachment of Emperor's Children/Thousand Sons/World Eaters/etc who didn't fall to chaos because of DEUS EX MACHINA' armies there will be a glut off following the release of said models.
I would like Imperial Army, even if it just get's us some more IG models, not sure if i'd care enough to play 30K though.

Models probably won't be compatible with what we have now, though. God forbid we get compatibility.

Isn't GW normaly pretty good for compatibility? To be honest though I'm a FW virgin so I don't know how compatible their stuff tends to be.

It should be compatible, especially considering the latest rumours give a points value for a standard tactical marine, and it's exactly the same as in the current codex. Of course if GW decide to upgrade the normal codex Marines in the future, then there might start being a disadvantage to using 30k lists. Latest rumours from Faeit 212 natfka.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/betrayal-horus-heresy-book-1-details.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+Faeit212+(Faeit+212)A copy/ paste of some relevant stuff "Guard are in the list and operate like platoons from the 40k dex. Essentially being a list within a list needing command + 2 units and can then take others. They can't blob, but they can be taken in squads up to 30 anyways. Super heavy tanks are in, but are BS4 with space marine crew. Legions have the option of taking allies from other space marine forces, Titans or guard air force. "

Hm. Lost interest. If you need those mega expensive books, count me out. Seriously, I would have loved to get the Throne of Chaos (that's its name, right? With Tamurkhan?) or Blood in the Badlands, but even the books I need for my university degree are cheaper (and they're freaking prohibitively expensive!)

Well you don't have to use their rules. You could just invent house rules for imperial jetbikes. Yeah IA books have always been expensive, take up loads of space. They are nice books with great pics. Shame they don't ever correct the spelling mistakes, etc.
