Around 3 - 4 weeks ago I decided I wanted to collect Space Marines and more specifically Ultramarines.
But what are the Ultramarines without their Primarch? I looked around at the ones available to buy and although they look good they just didn't stand out, I wanted a one off model.
At that point part of my brain screamed 'make one!', another part screamed 'don't be daft, you cant sculpt'. They were both right, so how do I get a one off Primarch? Then the answer became simple, find a good sculptor and commission them to make one. Several short emails later and Ashot agreed to sculpt one for the low price of 2 goats, I'm not sure why he wants 1 goat never mind 2.
To follow on from the sculpting I had to ask who would paint it? There's no way I could do it justice. Several emails later and Cosmic agreed to paint it, his price was half a cabbage. Some strange people on this forum!
What is the point of going to these lengths and then using a standard base? I knew I'd seen some good custom bases on this site so who else to ask to do it than 3ff3ct. We've not agreed a price yet but there was talk of him wanting some of my hair next time I got it cut.
With all this said I open this thread to those people who have been kind enough to join me in my dream of a one off Primarch. Hopefully over the next few weeks/months this will fill up with photos of the amazing work they are all capable of.

I'm pretty excited to be part of this project, I've been re-reading the horus heresy books and have also gotten giddy over the primarks. I'm sure that between the three of us we should be able to do this justice!

nows time to get exited...  model cut re posed and joined... the foot stands at 5mm higher than the other ... (effect, so a 50mm base with a 5mm step is how it needs to be at a guess)  filled in the gaps and started to sculpt the feet...  the last shows the level of thickness i intend to get the legs to... well thats all i got picks wise atm... got another few bits done, but i ainty got time for pics as theres a birthday party i needed to be at 30 mins ago lol.. |

Are the armour plates on the legs going to be green stuff Ashot? Or plasticard? I definitely believe you have th hardest part of this trio challenge!

...... You nutters! I think whatever happens he has to have a Laurel Wreath of Doom. Ironically I've just started reading 'Know no Fear' by Dan Abnett now, so I'm really far into the HH series. It's only at this point that you realise just how much Guilliman had achieved VS all his other brothers, even though he was on a par with Horus he was just too busy with forging Ultramar in the eastern fringe to be the Warmaster. Every time he's appeared in the book so far he multitasks a million things at at time but still finds time to micro-manage everything. The legs look great so far. Thanks for showing us how it's done!  |
