Hey mates. After taking a breather from 40k for a long time, I finally decided to get back into it and had the good fortune of gather a number of Steel Legion models, which fits very well with the Veteran Armored Fist Squad list I was planning on running. However, although the plan is to run Squads of Veterans in Chimera's with either Melta-guns or Plasma-guns, as for the rest of the squad, would Shotguns or Lasguns be better?

Depends on what you want to do. Plasma guns are best paired with lasguns, since they're both rapid fire weapons, and have the same reach. Shotguns work better with meltas, since you'll be engaging at close range anyway, and shotguns can allow you to charge after shooting. This can be a valuable ability, since it can let you finish off tanks with krak grenades, attempt to wipe out (or at least occupy) an infantry squad you just shot up, or, in desperate times, it allows you to lock the unit in melee so they won't get shot apart and leave the enemy an unobstructed advance.
