Soooo after a couple hours of frenetically reading through the new rulebook for nasty guard combos I saw this: The "lore" of telepathy has this power called psychic shriek. This power allows you to select an enemy unit within 12" and roll 3d6 and subtract the targets leadership from the roll. The target unit then takes the number of wounds equal to the result. No armour or cover saves can be taken.
If you combine this with the Psyker battle squad and their power; Weaken resolve, which reduces the enemy units leadership by the number of psykers in the Psyker battle squad, you could potentially take out a large portion of or even an entire unit of very nasty fellas'.
What do you think? Will it work?
Cheers, Brimlock!

well, yes, but remember Psychic powers are random, and have a chance of being Denied

sgtsamvimes - Well since the psychic shriek is the base power of the discipline you can always take it instead of the power you roll for.
I'll go ahead and test this right now!

That's gonna make Psyker battle squads pretty deadly. If the eldar players find out, were all doomed.

Were doomed until we unleash (with some good rolling) 9 storm eagle rockets upon them and their pesky psykers

On that note, I didn't see anything in the FAQ listing the Psyker Squads as having the new Brotherhood of Psykers rule, so I guess it doesn't apply to them? I think that makes sense, since the rule mkaes you use the squad leader for psychic tests, etc, and the leader of Sanctioned Psykers is specifically NOT a Psyker...

Yeah, I just thought of this combo this morning while pondering 40k 6th in the shower It seems really powerful, can anyone confirm who has the rulebooks handy if it's allowable? I'm thinking it might be prevented by the order in which the powers themselves have to be activated? Cheers,

I've searched through the relevant pages concerning psykers and characters and there is no rule that says that you have to use the powers of a character psyker before the other psykers, so this is totally legal bro

The only thing I can see is that you must go all or nothing with pschic choices.. ie: all from your codex or all from the 6th ed book. I think this is done on a per psychic unit basis, so you could get a primaris psyker with the shriek and the group with weaken resolve.
This might have been what you were suggesting, I just thought I'd clarify.

As far as I know, PBS do not have the option to use the new powers.
I tried this combo yesterday. Never got it to fire. I had the primaris in a unit of five ogryns, ahead of the PBS. He was charged by scarabs and after that a stalker. I did learn that primaris plus ogryns wipe the floor with scarabs though.
Also, the new sight rules make foot PBS awesome. You can walk one guy around a corner and shoot your power, leaving only that guy able to die to return fire.

I don't know what you mean, I am completely trustworthy.
Now, how about some special degaussing paint for your vehicles? 30% of the time it works every time.

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! I was thinking of shelving my PBS with how the new morale rules work, but now, papa's got a brand new bag...
