I'm just wondering if anyone could give me a tip with making things glow.
Specifically, I'm modelling up a Psyker conversion, and I want to paint the "wards and sigils of power" that they are described as wearing on their person. I want them to look like they're glowing with power. The idea I had for them is a similar look to how I've seen some lava painted. Ideas?

What you're referring to is known as object source lighting (OSL). It's very difficult to get right but there is a good guide below. Just make sure to practice on a test model or two first. blog.brushthralls.com/?page_id=1916

That link doesn't work for me.
The hard part is making look good on a model. On a bright coloured model a OSL effect just looks 'noisy'. On a dark model and done well, it looks great. The trick, as a wise Cosmic being once posted, is that the very centre of the OSL object is the brightest part. This seems obvious but while painting can prove difficult as you build it up.

Yikes. That looks tough. What I was thinking about was more just having a sigil with a colour progression to look like it is lit up, but not quite lit up enough to project light onto the rest of the model.
