Hey mates, I just have a quick question with the new rule changes to vehicles in 6th edition, I was just curious to know if the heavy flamer would still be a effective option for the hull mounted weapon on a Chimera or would the heavy bolter be the way to go in this editon. Granted the heavy flamer can be effective in Close Range, but with the new snap shot rules the heavy bolter seems like a good option. Appreciate the advice.

Vehicles can't fire Overwatch, tho Embarked Units can, so the Heavy Flamer doesn't help you there.
With the increased ability to Glance Vehicles to death, I think the Multi-Laser is more important than ever, and even the Heavy Bolter can pitch in against AV10-11. Both of those can be Snap-Fired as well, improving the Chimera's Firepower on the move and when supplementing your anti-Aircraft fire.
As such, I find my pre-existing set-up to serve pretty well: Most with ML/HB, and about 1/3 taking a Hull Heavy Flamer in place of the Heavy Bolter. The Heavy Flamers still certainly have a Role in Infantry Clearing, but they're no longer the no-brainer choice that they were in 5th.

Well i have mostly heavy flamers on my chimera hulls, only exception being the bassie and a hellhound. I'm going to keep these anyhow, as i mostly play orks. So they come in handy more often than heavy bolters. Also, heavy flamers are good at glancing kans They always try to get lose to your tanks.

I ALWAYS run my chimeras w/ multilaser and heavy flamer..
That way I can sit back and use them as light tanks - focussing thier combined firepower on enemy transports/lighter vehicles at range, then when they close in, the heavy flamers come out to play for some instant hit goodness and the multilaser snap fires..
Works a treat, as I run about 7 of them. They seem to take out the smaller vehicle threats quite well, allowing my bigger stuff (Russ's & Manticores) to take out the bulk of thier heavy armour or if none available, to nuke the squads that were inside.
