Is there any idea when the IG codex will be redone? I find that there are annoying gaps and inconsistencies in the current codex and the fluff is a bit weak.

The first time I read the title I thought ETA as in the Basque terrorist group, lol. I can`t see a new Codex coming out soon for the Guard. There are plenty of armies whose codex is far more outdated. IMO I wouldn`t be surprised is Dark Eldar get a makeover soon since they`re the new feature in the next Dawn of War game.

Hell man, keep on topic. I provided you with a link to that post.
night, we need a remake. Even if its just reworking our officers, putting back the exterminator and the griffon and making power weapons a sergant's weapon, we need the damn remake.

while this definetly sounds baloney my friend and local store owner greg was on the internet and he had found rumors that not only was 5th edition of 40k coming out soon that shortly behind it would be a new guard codex with new models that would include plastic great coats or something like that.
we both thought yeah right but every rumor has at least a little bit of truth in it.

If my memory serves, next codex is the Ork one (and you have to admit they deserve it - the greenies have been due for a looooong time.), but I would love to see a codex that would incorporate all the Imprerial force options and special rules (Mord, Prae, Tall, Val, Vost, all the worlds in the back of the current codex, plus Armored Co, and some of the options that others here have mentioned - cavalry, etc.)

The current IG codex was the first 4th ed codex (it actualy came out in 3rd ed and was a cross over codex). It's unlikley GW will do another codex unntill they start gearing up for 5th ed 40k, which'll be a couple of years away yet.

As upsetting as it may be, I think Woz is right, no Codex for us for years...

the only reason i could see a new IG codex would be to solve the apocolypse doctorine conundrum. and to bring in some better special characters to liven up the guard a bit, if any one has seen the stats for gazgull whats his name off the net for the new ork codex. its pretty obvious yarrick needs to get down the gym, and most of the new Imperial Guard heros are pretty wussy in comparison to other races hard boys, this is probably due to the 3rd 4th edition cross over thing. and to compinsate for the massed fire power, i dont think they would put back the gryphone or exterminator as there all availble in imperial armour, but i still recon its two years till the next IG book, so we'll all just have to get smarter to stay ahead.

I think we`ll be more likely to see a one off release next like the Deathworld Vets Codex than a full blown Imperial Guard Codex. An Armoured Company one would be nice, especially with all the vehicle boxed sets that have been released recently.

The deathworld veterans codex is on the GW website. Stop enticing GW into making us pay more money for their overpriced dross.

the thing is IG have once again sunk to the bottom of the midden that is the 40k universe bleeding orks are hard again IG need something special i was thinking that a good rule for IG would be to allow you to fire on your own troops from ordernance. that would show the ruthlessness. and commitment to the emperor.

Thats a bit harsh on the deathworld vets codex. For its time, I thought it was really good and had a lot of potential. I`d like to see similar codex releases for all the major guard armies (although doctines are a big step forward).

Correct me if im wrong, but dident games workshop use to do a Imperium book or something that covered all the races? itd be nice for people who are getting in to be able to look at one book and get at least the basis of what the armies are. and as for the IG. Id love to see more options available. it seems that the IG is the one true army that you should be able to do anything with. I mean, you should be able to use any weapons you can get your hands on. I know when im overseas, when i run low on ammo, or somthing i just use whats layin around. id love to have IG with Tau, or Eldar weapons. it'd be the bomb. of course thats all balanced out by a urine poor balistic skill....

I'm not saying that the deathworld vets codex is bad. On the contrary, it is an excellent, well-balanced list that I would use if it weren't for the fact that it would ensure an end to any semblance of normality in my army.
My point is that GW and forgeworld steal other peoples ideas for 40K and charge a fortune to use them. The IA books cost a godless amount of money to use alternate army lists like the DkOK, the renegades and the Elysians.
The Baneblade and the other FW models were the products of non-GW designers, but now they cost loads plus the extra rules.
And there is a board for this in the Anything IG section. Please stop stealing my customers.
