Earliest ETA would be around July/August '08. In March April Vampire Counts are getting their new Armybook. and normally they take about 3 to 4 months to release a new book.

Yeah... They should make a wonderful ensemble of new units, that would reflect on their russian roots! XD Cossacks, Spetsnaz, Secret police and ear flaps.

We may be seeing a new codex before too long. I'm starting to hear rumor that the GW has decided to release new main rules every four years instead of every eight. Won't be the first time they made a bad decision probably won't be the last. I mean even with the 8 year release they have a hard time getting new codex out to everyone. What makes them think they can do it in four?

I don't think I will hold my laughter until I see that.
I've seen to much from the GW to think otherwise. As large a following of the game and the manner in which a "good" product should be developed it would be a huge mistake to go to a 4 year turn about between versions otherwise we will end up with really dung heap codex's for the game.
Think about it even the FAQ's on the current version are not even current. How can they hope to make a working codex for a new edition of the rules every four years when they have yet to fix the problems with the current one.

Theyre just releasing the Orks codex next month, and thats been left for 8 years. They did the Ig recently, so its not likely the'll update anytime soon (eg in next year or so).

If you ask me they should have a big new codex for all the things that the current vanila one dosnt cover, i.e- Deathworlders, Armoured Companies, drop troops, and I would LOVE to see mainstream Death Core with thier own special rules (like you get to place D3 trenches on the board) since they are all such great parts of the Guard that should not only exist in the form of PDF file codices and overpriced-Forgeworld models

Yeah, steel legion as well. Some nice Ork fighting rule, maybe they would be adept at CC fighting them?

I think they cover some Big tanks in the Imperial Armour series anlong with a few other things. They do tend to show the death corps in WD for the Forgeworld models.

Ya but I think we need a codex for those things you can find at the store like any other codex and not one of those extremly-hard to find in stores (at least where I am) kind of books

Well, as far as steel legion... A major close combat bonus when fighting orks, hell maybe even a shooting bonus! Perhaps there could be create a guard? Like, different stats for different regiments? Nah, nevermind.

Create A Guard? Thats not a half bad idea, but then again something like that would just be a glorified version of doctrines

Well I mean like, make their stats. Like, maybe, pay a few points for higher WS BS ect. and add it all up and thats how much one of YOUR standard guard would cost ya know...I dunno, probly a bad idea, especially with apocalypse, it'd be really cool though, lol, say if your army was like super well trained or all of them were veterans for many many years. I dunno...

No it sounds interesting, it would be perfect to do in a combat patrol, or just small scale games if no more than 750 points. Hmm, with a little (as in alot) of balancing, we could have a whole new way to play warhammer, in a Company Of Heroes fashion where no two armies of the same race are ever the same

I like the current vanilla codex. it covers the steel legion in a very good way.
And i want the codices to remain PDF codices. That way i don't have to fork out my hard-earned cash on overpriced dross. If anyone suggests the deathworld vets codex be moved to hard copy I shall be infinitely irritated.

You can get the bonus for the steel legion just by giving them the Xeno-hunters (Orks) doctrine whic means that for an extra point they hit most orks on a 3 in combat. Think that's it though

What do you mean by no codex? No new one? Cause you know we have one unless you are a complete idiot.

The only thing I can say is...Ill be PO'ed if they take away the cadian models.... Same, they were a great improvement from the old crappy metal ones and if they do get replaced we will have to spend hundreds getting new ones.

come on gus dont be such trend follower. i've RT models in my force all the way up to vostroyans, just cos a model aint in the codex don't mean you shoudn't use it, dont fall into the GW trap of just because a new model type is out i've got to change all the rest,
