This project started for me, at least as an idea, in October of last year. It has changed gears a bit though. The idea is to convert some Adeptus Custodes as counts-as Grey Knights. My original idea, not knowing much about Grey Knights or owning the codex, but seeing that it was a popular concept online, was Draigo Wing. Since I came up with the idea though, I have become far more immersed in the 40K community as a whole, and I've been fairly turned off to the overdone cheese of a Draigo Wing list. So for now this is just a project for my enjoyment of the hobbying aspect of the game. I do now own the Grey Knights codex though, so we'll see if I come up with any original list that sounds fun to play. I have ideas for other counts as grey knights using other branches of the imperium that could work with the custodes. More on that in the future though.
As for the models, I've finally got enough bits to start them. I made bits orders of basic marine torsos with skulls on the center, plain shoulder pads, and bolters. I got a box of basic grey knights for Christmas, so there were a few force halberds. And I just got back from visiting my sister in Oakland for a few days, and visiting Endgame, I couldn't resist picking up a DA upgrade sprue for the robes. I know it's a little bit cheaper online, but the convenience of getting it right then and there was too good to pass up. So last night, I clipped and cleaned some parts, and glued and greenstuffed what I had. Credit goes to Ron of "From the Warp" for the shoulders and exact method of assembilng the guardian spear. Sorry for the wall of text, here are some pics to make up for it:
The parts
And as it stands right now
