A friend at my local shop was selling his fantasy stuff in order to drum up cash for his 40k armies. In his collection was a set of spearmen that I bought off him to convert into a few units for my Guard army. I bought the "Ricco's Republican Guard" set and I'm planning on converting the sergeant looking model (Ricco I'm assuming) into a commisar. Since these are metal and a little older (copyrighted 1995 on the base), I was wondering if they would be worth selling instead. Don't want to chop anything up only to find out it was worth more than $15 later on.

it´s indeed highly collectable, but if you check e-bay for it people are not paying very much for them. I gues you need some luck to find a real fan.
However the good news is that you realy had a good buy. GW price € 40,00

Worth keeping for the high production values alone.

Convert them. At the end of the day you probably won't get top dollar out of them in less you get that one guy who is a huge fan.

True. My thinking was that if I can get more than $15 out of them as they are now, then it would still be worth selling them as opposed to chopping up just one model and having a few other models around that I have no purpose for. But the more I think about it the more I like the idea of turning the one guy into a Commisar.

OK, if you put it that way Ponen, than there is only 1 good decision because
a. you payed $15,00 for the whole box. b. buying a decent commissar from f.i. Forge World will cost you $ 39,00 for two and a half of them. c. so converting 1 model will give you the unique commissar you want for the same price as you could by a new one. and.... you sell the other models on e-bay (not as an incomplete set, no as individual models.... :-)
