Need some help understanding the rules of the Vanquisher. The codex says the Vanquisher can roll and extra D6 when rolling for armor pen. Does this mean you roll two D6 and add them up, or do you roll two D6 and take the higher of the two? I understand it as adding the two D6 and most of my opponents agree or never questioned it, but one player in my regular group says its two D6 and take the highest. Can anyone clarify this for me?

From the IG Codex-
"Shots from a Vanquisher Battle Cannon roll an additional D6 when rolling for armour penetration"
I think the key word there is ADDITIONAL[/b]
So for me, you would be rolling 2D6 for armour penetration adding them together, which kinda makes sense thinking that its designed for anti-armour. The only downside is the BS3 of the tank... Thats where Pask comes in

It's also worth noting that ALL Ordnance weapons allow you to roll 2D6 and pick the highest result when rolling to penetrate armour, so even the standard Leman Russ Battle Cannon is an effective transport killer now that the blast weapons do full damage.

Vanquisher is basically a long range meltagun.. It isn't Ordnance thou, which would be quite brutal..
And as Danger correctly says, BS3 will let you down quite often, bringing Pask and a hull lascannon is expensive, but he does synergize really well with that tank.. (Not as much as the Exterminator, but pretty good still)

Also the Vanquisher Cannon is AP2 which adds +1 to the vehicle damage chart, which is nice!

Awesome, thanks for the help! I thought that was the ruling but I just wanted to make sure so I'm not cheating anyone or that I don't get screwed with that rule later. Agreed on the BS3 drawback, but Pask and the hull lascannon add a little more safety netting when I use the Vanq. I actually rather like the Vanquisher over some of the other variants, the bonuses tend to out-weight the negatives IMHO, but I've never played with an executioner and I play against a lot of armor, so my Vanquishers usually earn their keep.
