Has any one used the Hirst Art molds? I was considering getting them to do the buildings for my gaming table but they seem a little expensive for me to use only a few times.
So are they worth it? Or does someone have a set they want to lend me?

Not the kind you buy in toy shops, but rather dental plaster. Check out hirsts hints and tips to get a better description.

the thing is I do like the molds very much, but I always think of them in a fantasy world. they are too carved out of a rock, if you got me, In the future with all the enhanced techniques to build huge sky high Gothic structures I see a different material, less chiseled out.
so are the worth the money? yes it is a very good and solid product. would you use it in a 40K setting? no, for the above reason.

Now I have ben doing some casting by my self and come to some conclutions.
1. It will take some castings until you get a hang on not getting any air bubbles.
2. Each casting takes 0.5 hours. + 1 day to dry out properly.
3. Watching plaster dry, is utterly boring.
4. If you need lots and lots of one thing (Like the floor tiles I use) it is going to take some time until you amass everything you need.
5. The end result look good.

What kit are you using? I imagine the moulds will get bigger over time when you reproduce more stock.

I have used a lot of Hirst Arts molds. There was a guy in England that sold kits (multiple molds) of pieces to make the stuff on the Hirst Arts project pages.
