Ok, so, since I can't decide between Tau or IG for an upcoming 1250 tourney, I came up with something here:
HQ
Commander Shas'el w/ TA and TL fusion blasters
TROOPS
6-man FW team
15 Kroot carnivores
15 Kroot carnivores
15 Kroot carnivores
ELITE
3-man stealthsuit team (barebones)
HEAVY
broadside w/ team leader upgrade each, TL plasma, TA
broadsides w/ team leader upgrade each, TL plasma, TA
ALLIES: IG
HQ
Lord Commissar (bare)
TROOPS
Vet squad w/ 3x plasma and demo doctrine
FAST
Vendetta
HEAVY
Manticore
Tactics? Pure chaos. Kroot would either infiltrate or outflank in (depending on whether or not I get first) and act as riflemen (same with the Stealth team), and if there's time, assault stuff. The Vendetta-riding vet squad will come in on deploy at the earliest by turn 3 (depending on if the dice gods are fair), and will serve the purpose of being my anti-2+ support and/or pop light vehicles. The Vendetta of course serves the purpose of being my AA support against other flyers (a glaring weakness in the 1250 Tau list I wrote up and tested a few days ago), and act as more anti-MEQ support. Meanwhile, my broadsides will be popping heavier vehicles from cover and taking pot shots at fliers as they see fit, my Manticore is there for extra heavy vehicle/horde stopping power (manticore shot combined with the amount of infantry I'll have in the enemy DZ pretty much means that horde armies will not be a problem). And, my FW team is there to engage anything in my DZ (along with TL plasma support form my broadsides.
I guess, to sum it all up, the point is to take the fight to my opponent in his own DZ and put a lot of pressure on him due to the amount of targets and him having to decide what is target priority, because at this low of a point total, chances are he's not going to have enough to deal with all of it.
Keep in mind this is being played on a 4x3 table.
Thoughts?
