Simple question - can orders be issued from an open-topped vehicle?

The Centaur. It's a dedicated transport for Death Korps of Krieg CCS and PCS.

Yes, another annoying ommission from the DKK rulebook that is available to the regular Guard armies!

Where does it say that you can issue orders from an open topped vehicle? Source and page would be good.

The Guard Codex says that Orders may not be issued from Vehicles. The Chimera has a very specific exemption to this with the Command Vehicle Rule.
Unless it has a similar explicit exemption, no other Vehicle can be used to give Orders from.

To be honest, I think the answer should remain a no. Just because its an open topped vehicle, doesnt mean that you should be able to communicate better..
In saying that, surely that the chimera being a mobile command vehicle to transmit orders, surely being in the save vehicle, you should be able to recieve orders??? (IE Mounted CCS orders a unit in a chimera to 'bring it down'...)
I think that would make more sense...

The last time I saw that argument come up tonba I think it was refuted with the logic that most of the orders would be difficult to act on from inside a vehicle.

Commissar: We got our orders maggots! Line up and fire at those slimey chaos troopers.
Solider: But Commissar, We're inside a chimera and their are only five points of fire access.
Commissar: You dare to question your superirors?! Heresy! *Cocks bolt pistol*

No way, why cant you 'bring it down' from inside a chimera? Considering that normally only the heavy weapons and special weapons can normally hurt..
But fair play boys! I can understand that..

The last time I saw that argument come up tonba I think it was refuted with the logic that most of the orders would be difficult to act on from inside a vehicle. Yup. This is my old answer from when it first came up (edited for spelling errors and simplicity): "It's actually not that weird, fluff-wise. Only five people can fire out of a chimera so FRFSRF doesn't really work since you can't cram too many people up against the gunports (anyone who's actually been in an APC knows this). 'Bring it down!' doesn't work neither since it can be hard to see what exactly the officer is poiting at (gunports dosn't exacty give you the best LoS to targets) and the same goes for 'Fire at my target'. What more do we have? Move, move, move!? Can't do that in a Chimera, same goes for Get back into the fight and Incoming. "

Back on topic: Open topped aside, the Chimera is an exception because it has the "Mobile command vehicle" special rule. By the sound of it this Centaur is quite literally a vehicle for mobile command - so it seems very much like an error that it is missing the appropriate special rule. The answer will be interesting.
