Aight boys. Here's a thought i just had that might make Yarrick and ogryns more worth while. What if we run him at the front of 10 ogryns. Toughness 5 re-roll to wound, might be pretty good especially since the look out sir lets you spread out the wounds however you like. And then there's the reroll to hit. I dunno it might be fun to try.

This topic has been up before.. Not good.. While the unit is hard to kill, at 595 points you are paying waaay to many points for something that really isn't gonna do that well.. The unit is lacking powerweapons, since everything will get thier armor save against them, so while the deathstar unit will kill other units, they will need to stay away from most dangerous CC units.. Bonesword warriors, Purifiers, Kitted out grey hunters (not optimal, but will hurt the ogryns), terminators.. Ohh and you can't hurt AV13..:/ So you end up with 30% of your army points stuck in a unit that can tackle medium/easy enemy squads.. Good stuff.. Any half decent player would be smiling if he saw this unit put against him in a offensive role.. Smiling like a shark that is.. Personally i'd really love to love the ogryns, but they simply arn't good enough as a offensive unit.. They are a wound soak, a "blob squad" with less models.. To make them better, the Bone'Ead had to have access to upgrades; Either making him scoring or be able to take a powerweapon..:/ Ofcause if you play in a group/enviroment where you see lists with Punishers, Pryovores, Swiftclaws, Daemonhosts or the Vect'mobile, it will be a fun unit that if nothing els will be just that.. fun..

No arguments there, i mostly play against orks. So the only thing ogryns don't do well against are the warboss and maybe mega armored nobs. But you're right they will probably only work in "fun" lists and not competitive ones.

Ogryns aside, Yarrick looks to have gotten some buffs in 6th. Not sure he's worth as much as a LC/HB Russ, but he's definitely better than in 5th.
The Stubborn Aura and Aura of Discipline are both still excellent. They combine to make non-blobbed Infantry lists pretty viable as long as Yarrick is alive, and make for an excellent buff for HWSs and other units that have no options for Ld help normally. The Stubborn Aura is also nice for helping out things like Blobs with Allied ICs in them that don't want to have a Commissar because of the threat of Summary Execution.
Fearless applied to his own Unit is much more of a bonus now, altho the inability to Go to Ground is significant for Guard.
With Eternal Warrior, T4, his Force Field, a Power Klaw, and his ability to get back up, he's actually pretty decent in Challenges, especially against Characters that are relying on a small number of powerful Attacks.
I'd most likely run him in a List with multiple Blobs (at least one of which has a non-Fearless/Stubborn Allied IC in it, or is otherwise lacking a Commissar of its own), and some Heavy Weapons Squads. Probably best in double FOC Games for extra CCSs, or with Creed, so you've got lots of Orders to give out to all those Units benefiting from AoD.
Still not sure he's worth it, even there, he's damned expensive, but that looks to maximize the use of his abilities.
