Hello,
Ok, so last August my mate gave me his old Bike boots, I said to him at the time " I'll pay you for the boots, you can't just give them to me" and which he replied with " Nah don't worry about it, I didn't buy you a Birthday Present, so you can have the boots". So I took and I have had them for over a year now.
ON Wednesday, I get a text saying " You still got my boots? if so can you bring them Friday"
I haven't replied because it really annoyed me.
1. They are no longer his boots 2. You can't give someone something and then a year later ask for them back, I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that at all!
I'm not going to give them back, but it will upset are friendship and I'm really good friends with his dad too.
Am I doing the right thing? My other biker mates think I am...
Cheers

How often do you see him while wearing them?
If you dont : Tell him they broke If you do : change the laces so at a glance their different.

Does he just need to borrow boots for a day? If he's not asking for them back permanently, be a bro. If he does want them back for real, beat him with them.

If he needs to borrow them, and you're not using them yourself, I say let him borrow them.
If he wants them back for keeps, I would remind him that he gave them to you...it is possible he forgot.

Was he sober when he gave them to you?
If he was remind him that they were a gift. If he insists give him ONE boot either the left or the right.
Next move is his; if he says fornicate it and throws it at you then they are yours. If he holds out waiting for the other then at least you have a something you guys can laugh about for years to come.
This is all assuming he wants them back. If he wants to borrow them then I am with the others.

Wow thanks for the responses guys.
Well he said he wanted to borrow them for a track day, which is fair enough, I said yes and that was may time.
I asked him yesterday if he needed them for the track day, hence asking me for the boots. He replied with " oh yeah I need to book that" so he is either being a thingy, or his boots are broken and wants mine back.
He won't be getting them back, he taking the p!ss.
