Short question, how do you paint beard stubble? I can't figure it out. Try an grey/black wash over the mouth area?

yup... i can help... two ways ..
use the base colour you used for the skin ..tallarn flesh for example, then add some dark grey ... afterward, paint it in the stubbly areas but dont highlight the areas where you put the stubble.
or... just add a small bit of grey into some black wash and apply the same way.
hope that helkp... thats how i do it.

after the skin tone is completely done(after wash highlight etc), use a small drybrush and make sure its quite dry and dab at the intended area with a med or dark grey such as eshin grey or codex grey. If you do it right, you should see the tiny dots of grey from the drybrush tips.

I used to do it with the old black ink just by applying slightly watered down layers to the areas where facial hair would be (this assumes that the trooper is like me with really dark facial hair and permanent 5 o'clock shadow). The same effect can probably be achieved using the new black washes, but may require more layers to build up the stubble-y look.
