Hey all, not exactly sure if this belongs in tactics, but didn't know what else it would have fit under (maybe infantry?). Anyways...
I'm hosting an upcoming game weekend here at my house, and several of my friends are coming to play. Opponents include vanilla marines, Dark Angels, 'Nidz, Necrons, Tau, and possibly Grey Knights. I was coming up with an 'all comers' list for the games, and I had an idea for a unit. I'm wondering about it's viability (not necessairly for the game this weekend, just it's viability in general)
I've read about people putting flamer SWS in their Vendettas to have them count as late-game scoring units. Well, what if I put two heavy weapons squads (probably AC's or HB's) in a chimera, drove them forward to an objective, and deployed them in cover on an objective to provide a base of fire for the rest of the units in the area? I realize that for about the same points I could get a tooled up LRMBT or Demolisher that could probably put out the same, or higher, volume and quality of firepower to do the job, but the HWS's are scoring, which is appealing. Could it be a viable option?
Also, how would you get one or two HWS's into a chimera, since they can't take them as dedicated transports? Start them next to each other, turn one embark, then move turn two or three, then disembark?
Thanks for any comments/criticism!

You can only carry one unit per transport, unfortunately. And yes, you'd have to buy the Chimera for another squad and then deploy it empty, and have the HWT carjack (Chimerajack?) it.

You can only carry one unit per transport... Aw man, even though it's got a 12 model capacity? So I'm guessing putting 1 HSW in a Chimera and sitting on an objective is not the greatest way to hold an objective.

Also remember that you can't Hold Objectives while Embarked in a Transport anymore.
Unfortunately, this concept just really doesn't work. Sorry.
