My friend who runs this GW store is hosting a campaign focused on Cadia during a black crusade. He's got a map set up with a city, dense forest and power relays. So far the forces of chaos are winning but Im thinking of throwing my lot with the imps with my guard.
Any ways heres the list Im thinking of doing against Chaos marines.
HQ- Creed Command Squad Creed Las-cannon(x2) Astropath or Admiral Troops- Vet sq. "Capuchans" *Sgt. with Plasma pistol * Two meltas * Missle launcher Vet sq. "Knuckledraggers" *Two meltas *one plasma gun * Missle launcher Vet sq. "Sliverbacks" *Three Grenade launchers *Sgt. with power sword * Autocannon Platoon Unit Code name "Sidewinder" * PCS With medic, two flamers and heavy flamer * Three inf. Squads with plasmas for each squad * Four APCs(Chimeras) for all squads to assigned unit. Heavy Support- * Two BT Russes with lascannons and HB spons * Punisher Russ (Alt. HQ can only have 1 lascannon. Capuchans, not sure if the plasma pistol will be worth it as im guessing they are more to take out enemy armour. Knuckledraggers wouldn't mix the meltas and plasmas in the same squad. Sliverbacks i wouldn't bother with the power sword. might switch the sgt with Capuchans. Platoon the plasmas aren't likely to be hugely successful cuz of gets hot and the BS3, may switch with GLs. maybe give them to the Sliverbacks. Punisher looks cool but doesn't do well in game. Executioner should be much better. and due to rule changes for the russ it's not worth the HB sponsons.

Yeah I thought I could squeeze another HW into the CCS to score that sweet BS 4. going back to medic and Cmd Stand. The suggestions to the vets I strongly agree. Not alot of weapons work well with meltas except flamers or plasmas though. The executioner I also agree with but Im keeping the sponsons incase I get a deepstrike of baddies right infront of nozzles. Don't want to pie plate myself. ((It has happened before.))
Authors note: The Punisher idea came from a friend of mine who uses it with pask to mow down large lines of troops and he says he's had a lot of success with it lately. Something for the forums to keep an ear on.

I've suggested taking it before but it's too expensive for what it does. it's not hugely powerful and has no AP so it's better now to go with plasma death

I'm also thinking of adding an aegies with quad gun to protect the ccs and vets or I could switch them with the sidewinders so that the vets can go moblie and launch melta bombs outta the fire points. Or Upgrade the Platoon Cmdr to Capt Al and give the sidewinders outflank on turn two. So many decisions...
Either that our I spend more points bringing more troops on the field. It might get difficult squeezing another platoon in under 2k but I think I might be able to squeeze one more vet squad in. If the game goes 2.5k then I can score another platoon but they have to be footsloggers since I don't have enough chimeras.

Thread Update: Today I tested out my new list against a space wolf army lead by Brain Redmaw himself and I must say my troops performed beyond expectations. Though I lost by one point, ((line breaker from a termny that refused to die.)) my troops went toe to toe with some of russ's finest and came out on top mostly. Lost only one Russ tank and managed to kill Redmaw in wulf form with a barrage of first rank fire!
In Game Fluff news: Field promotion is granted to a Sgt. Barnabas Krul for his exemplary performance and commitment in the fight for the imperium. Not only did he manage to recall his remaining unit from running away but charged back into assault aganist the same space wolf Terminator that forced the retreat in the first place. He fought with the might of Cadia this day and did not faulter against the enemy's power weapons. Gen. Sebase Rooster award Sgt. Krul with the violet badge of courage and promoted him to Staff Sargent. He will now serve his tour of duty with Veteran's company assigned to Knuckledraggers untill a new squad is raised.
