drake: Pure terminator type heads or half human, half robot? What about hooded stuff, doesn't that fit in there somewhere? -Steve I like Paradill's idea...hooded heads with tenticaly bits would be awesome ;D

You seem to waste a lot of resin with this castings. Have you considered ways of reducing the resin amount?
If you have the 3D printer yourself, why not include a fuller sprue frame?

He doesn't do the casting, and its the same way FW do theirs.

He doesn't do the casting, and its the same way FW do theirs. Explains why forge world is so expensive. It still seems wasteful. is there no way to reduce the waste?

I do all of it. The only thing I don't personally do is the 3D printing because the machine my printer uses is very expensive. About the casting, there really is no other way to do it. I use a vacuum chamber and a pressure chamber to ensure there no noticable bubbles and there has to be a well of some kind to keep the overflow of resin from spilling out. That' s what you see as the lump underneath the parts. I might do it a little different than FW but I believe our basic approach is the same. The kind of "waste" you see there has nothing to do with FW pricing...trust me.

Also, the size of the sprue frame is small because if the molds were any bigger they would be hard to work wirh.

Narric: No problem man. Most people don't know how these things are done so it never hurts to ask. The main reason I think FW is so pricey is because the process is very labor intensive. With as big as they are, that's where a good part of their costs lie. -Steve

Yup. I work with resins quite a bit where I am employed and yeah, while the resin is somewhat expensive, a gallon of each half goes a long way. Labor is most likely the primary culprit behind the high cost, along with mold costs as depending on what specific material they use not only can it be fairly expensive, it will also degrade with each cast and over time making it necessary to replace periodically.

Hmmmm.... Is it possible to get one without the rider? I'm thinking it'd look good with some rokkits and big shootaz tied onto it.... And spikes. And skulls. Gotta have skulls.....

I am considering that, also having the driver sold separately as well. I'll need a week or so to sort out whether I'll be doing that or not.

How about some helmets to go with your grav chute and rifles on the first page plus those berets. I would definitely buy some "Spaceship Soldier" themed stuff. Oh and I would go nuts for some female miniatures, they are hard to find and highly sought after. If you would consider this maybe also consider some "Spaceship Soldier" themed females...

Grav chutes and rifles are both at the printers so maybe some new heads are a good idea.

I'd love to see some heads. I'll definitely get some of the rifles though.

So thinking of these hooded heads, seems like the hood will have to lay in a way that would require some cutting back of the torso collar. Are you guys ok with that?

I wouldn't mind some torso trimming if the head was good enough quality

Well here's a rough I just did this morning. It's very simple but it gives an idea of where I'm at with it. I'd love some feedback, more tentacles, less tentacles, any other specific details? Also, a preview of a new set of Bandaged Heads... -Steve

Loving the tentacled head! Though a couple of variants such as one with eyes completely hidden by the hood and one with oversized bug like bionics would also be cool. But I'm very happy with that design, I'd buy it.
